Anyone pick up the new White Stripes CD today?

I'm on my way out to pick it up at the wrecka stow before work here in a few minutes...I have a feeling my wallet's gonna be hurting today, cuz I seem to remember there are a couple of other albums coming out this week that I want, though I can't remember what they are...but I'm very excited to hear the new WS. nod

I'm gonna get it soon, if not today. I've been buying a lot of musica lately. My brother warned me that it's nothing like their other efforts - less of an edge. It'll take some getting used to.

Rolling Stone pretty much blew Jack White in their review so with that as a guide, I'm waiting for a while to pick it up.

RS drives me crazy. When they like somebody they looooove them - Eminem, Rolling Stones, Beck, Madonna, The White Stripes. A negative review for any of those acts and select others is a rarity.

lol No, "Rolling Stone pretty much blew Jack White" meaning they were all over it. Their rating:

In their favor (perhaps), allmusic.com gave it the same rating.

Annie's 'Anniemal' is in U.S. stores today finally. I'll get that one first before White Stripes. New Shakira is out today also, but I bought that one yesterday. lurking

I just bought it--I have to wait 'till work's over, though.

Anybody see the Blue Orchid single? It's got two people in the exact pose of Meg & Jack on the cover. So silly...

I'm a casual fan. I'm curious to hear what people think as Entertainment Weekly wasn't too impressed and they are usually pretty good with their reviews...

I bought it today biggrin . Only had time to hear it all the way through once. It was grand, every song is different, Blue Orchid is NOT typical of the album.Lots of piano in it, some of the songs are reminicent of their older works. Anyway , I like it a lot, biggrin

Seems very good. A real "hand-made" album. Something the pop world is desperately in need of. It's actually not as different as some reviews might have us believe, though. It's the White Stripes in their prime.

I think Jack White might benefit from a better drummer, however, and some bass wouldn't hurt either. It's cool how he stuck with Meg & she adds to the hand-made feel, but...she's just not that great.

Also he stole Bob Dylan's "I Believe in You" melody for "Not as Ugly..."

Still, I really like it. Mabye their best yet.

Did you hear about the guy from Red Kross that added bass to every song on 'White Blood Cells'? I think the tracks were retitled 'Redd Blood Cells' and were available for download on his site.

Interesting, I never heard that.

I think the songs are fine for what they are, but I don't think bass would hurt.

It's funny that Jack's on Beck's album playing--yep, you guessed it--bass!
