poor jody watley...they should have invited her since she was the only black artist (well besides boy george...dont care what the color of his skin is...that man's voice spells "brotha" all over it....) who participated in the Band Aid song...  Space for sale... | |

This whole topic is pathetic. Yet again, it sucks of some people trying to find a racist agenda to everything.
The simple reason there is a lack of black acts at the England concert is because there is a major lack of big selling black artists from the UK! The people performing have sold tens of millions of records and are still selling. The likes of Beverley Knight, Lamar and Dizzy Rascal have not done this. They do not deserve a slot on the day, simply because they are black. What next? Protests because there is not enough Welsh presence? Should we ask Craig David to call off performing at the Paris show, and head for London to appease people? This concert is about raising awareness, so it needs to appeal to the mass market. Talent or colour is not the deciding factor here, exposure is. And anyone who thinks Bono is racist should kiss his arse. The guy has been campaigning for Africa for 20 years. Sure there can be a debate about the lack of black music exposure in the UK, but that has nothing to do with great work that Live 8 is attempting. [Edited 6/9/05 16:39pm] . | |
