Odd Concerts & the Bright Days that Follow

Ok, so this has been an odd concert season for me. I started out seeing Kenny Chesney / Uncle Kracker / Gretchen Wilson in April. I followed that with Allison Krauss & Union Station in May **Took my momma for a late mothers day present** then i saw The Pussycat Dolls / Natalie / Baby Bash / Frankie J. / & Gavin McGraw last weekend. For those who are not hip to the Gavin Train I would highly recommend him. To be a young artist ** and i don't use this term in the "I have the looks and the voice but don't know how to play" way, i mean the boy beat the piano to death and has one of the tightest bands i have seen in ages. Of course the same could go for Allison & Union Station, even if u don't dig bluegrass music, this group of artist will blow you away with their prowess. But back to Gavin, energizing is the best way I could describe it. He was touring Lexington as part of the Catopia 2005 concert series ** a concert series put on by 104.5 the Cat "Local Radio"** I was easily one of the oldest people at this concert due to their line up, aside from the parents of the 12 y/o hookers who were there. When Frankie J. finished his last song almost all of the audience left not knowing much about Gavin. This was a sad thing and a great thing all at the same time. A crowd of 8,000 shrank to a crowd of under 500 and Gavin gave it his all. He was beating the piano to death, jumping from stage to speakers to the floor and giving the security people at Rupp Arena small heart attacks due to him going out into the middle of the crowd and singing along. He played a great set and I hope to catch him again in Louisville next month. I would happily pay $35 for another show at a smaller venue. The Louisville Palace where I saw P during the ONA shows. If y'all ain't hip...check this boy out. He may be the male version of Ani. :O
