Hip hop Nostalgia So i came upon this youngster who was surprised that i did not like HIP HOP/RAP whatever!
Who said "how can you be black, and not like hip hop" and that made me feel bad? was I rejecting my heritage? or was this fool stupid? and yes... he's stupid... but he made me realize i have been neglecting the hip hop seen for nearly 9, 10 years now... so i pulled out my dusty old C.D.s NWA,Dre,B.I.G, 2 Pac, Bone thugs, Old Jay Z started listening to it... and i seriously missed it... i even went way back and pulled out my ole Sugarhill gang Lp's Slick Rick! Does the stuff they're churning out today even compare to the stuff of the old? I mean all these beats i hear today are so redundent they're all recycle versions of Neptunes Grindin Back then Hip hop had style you had a funky ass bass line, a slick Synth Lead, and banging drum beats The rappers truly were skilled... talked about having money but they alos talked about the ghetto... we use to rap about the ghetto, hard times now all these motherF8ckers rap about women, and money of course they did it back then... but it was different.. maybe im just getting old does anybody understand were IM coming frome | |
