Irene Cara was TERRIBLE. Awful voice. If it were based on first song alone, I would've voted for Cameo, but their version of 1985 was even worse than the original. I liked both Wang Chung tunes okay, but I loved Sophie B Hawkins and especially Howard Jones. He was great. Terrible audience vote. I can't believe they liked that shit. I hate to be negative, but they musta felt sorry for the old bag.

Irene Cara cheated on the second song. She was basicly singing back up for that Hot Chocolate group.


Cameo was the hands down winner!!

Honestly, I thought Cameo was actually "too good" of a band to be on this show. But nonetheless it was cool seeing them on television. (WHERE WAS CHARLIE SINGLETON???)..Irene Cara still has a "little" voice left, but she didn't deserve to win. She had members of her group "Caramel" sing the rest of the song for her and they really didn't do that better either. Wang Chung pretty much had the crowd going w/ the Nelly tune. I thought they would have won based on that. Howard Jones was good, but his songs were a little too laid back for that crowd (he should have played "What Is Love")..Irene Cara was billed as a solo performer and she should have sang the song by herself. Also another person that needs go on that show is the bald headed bass player in the back. (I know they're lip synching).. He's not really playing and puts no effort in moving up and down the fretboard to make you believe it and he's about as exciting as watching paint dry.

Howard Jones really must have impressed peeps last night his "the best of Howard Jones moved up from oblivion to #82! at amazon.com...amazing

Does anyone else find the host of the show to be really annoying?

It's so funny, I hated.... HATED Howard Jones (outside of "What is Love?") and Lovvved Irene Cara in the 80's...Howard Jones smoked everyone on last nights show.
He totally should have won. He should re-record that Dido song...that was beautiful.

Yes....Howard Jones was great and so was Cameo. I'd be interested to know if Irene Cara's song won because it was a bigger hit than anyone else had on the show last night. Or it strikes some odd cord with people or something. Do yourselves a favor and buy Howard Jones - Human's Lib. It is a great album and nothing like anythinge else that came out in the eighties.Anyone have a clue how to get a hold of the shirt Sophie was wearing? My sister wants one.

Howard Jones had quite a few hits: "What is Love?" (my personal favorite), "No One Is to Blame," "Things Can Only Get Better," "New Song," "Like to Get to Know You Well" and "Life in One Day." I'm glad he did well on the show.
