Def Leppard "Hysteria"

This album takes me back. During my "heavy metal" phase as a early teen.

Now i cannot believe they STILL put these cheesemuchers in the heavy metal section in stores.

I got this album and "high n dry" and "pyromania". "hysteria" is by ar their best though.

Whole album is great fun still. The ballad "love bites" is an old fav of mine.

Oh yeah, cannot forget the funny "pour some sugar on me". Tongue in cheek rock is what I want.

I love the new "Rock of Ages" double CD collection, it has many of the Hysteria songs on there.

This is a great rock album. One of the best to come out in the latter half of the 80s. It's also one of the best things Mutt Lange produced before he went completely crap. Most of the singles have the same sound to 'em, but when it's a good sound, I don't mind so much.

Mutt is a versitile bloke. I swear he produced ac/dc's "back in black". A rock album I can stand.

"mutt" did a good song for starship, which sounded like a leppard ballad. "I didn't mean to stay all night" is the bees knees.

Then he wrote "said I loved u, but I lied" for michael Bolton. I love that song.

LOVE BITES. That's my favorite song on Hysteria. I still get shivers when I listen to some of the words.

"Love Bites"

If you've got love in your sights
Watch out, love bites

When you make love, do you look in the mirror?
Who do you think of, does he look like me?
Do you tell lies and say that it's forever?
Do you think twice, or just touch 'n' see?
Ooh babe ooh yeah

When you're alone, do you let go?
Are you wild 'n' willin' or is it just for show?

Ooh c'mon

I don't wanna touch you too much baby
'Cos making love to you might drive me crazy
I know you think that love is the way you make it
So I don't wanna be there when you decide to break it

Love bites, love bleeds
It's bringin' me to my knees
Love lives, love dies
It's no surprise
Love begs, love pleads
It's what I need

When I'm with you are you somewhere else?
Am I gettin' thru or do you please yourself?
When you wake up will you walk out?
It can't be love if you throw it about
Ooh babe

I don't wanna touch you too much baby
'Cos making love to you might drive me crazy

Love bites, love bleeds
It's bringin' me to my knees
Love lives, love dies

If you've got love in your sights
Watch out, love bites
Yes it does
It will be hell

it sold that many eek

I had no idea? I wasn't old enough at the time of release. When I liked it, I got a few of my mates onto it but no one else my age even knew of them? Plus I found out they were UK, so I assumed they proberly didn't break america. I see they did.

Nah, they were very big here. Pyromania was popular, but this album was pretty much a phenomenon. It stayed on the charts for a very long time.

The more I listen to it, the more Iam reminded how strong the WHOLE album is. Which for me is unusual. My cd booklet has no lyrics though, which is kind of a bummer.

This is one of those blockbuster albums from the late-80's where at least half of the songs were huge hits, and it definitely is a product of its era. Of course, none of that stops me from loving it unabashedly!

Hysteria in particular kicks ass!

Out of touch, out of reach yeah
You could try to get closer to me
I'm in luck, I'm in deep, yeah
Hypnotized, I'm shakin' to my knees

I gotta know tonight, if you're alone tonight
Can't stop this feeling, can't stop this fire

I get hysterical, hysteria
Oh can you feel it, do you believe it
It's such a magical, mysteria
When you get that feelin', better start believin'
Cause it's a miracle, oh say you will, ooh babe
Hysteria when you're near

Out of me, into you yeah
You could hide it's just a one way street
I believe I'm in you, yeah
Open wide, that's right, dream me off my feet
Oh, believe in me

I gotta know tonight, if you're alone tonight
Can't stop this feelin', can't stop this fire

I get hysterical, hysteria
Oh can you feel it, do you believe it
It's such a magical, mysteria
When you get that feelin', better start believin'
Cause it's a miracle, oh say you will, ooh babe
Hysteria when you're near

Come on

I gotta know tonight, if you're alone tonight
Can't stop this feelin', can't stop this fire

I get hysterical, hysteria
Oh can you feel it, do you believe it
It's such a magical, mysteria
When you get that feelin', better start believin'
Cause it's a miracle, oh say you will, ooh babe
Oh can you feel it, do you believe it
I get hysterical, hysteria
When you get that feelin', you'd better believe it
Better start believin'
'Cos it's a miracle, oh, say you will
Oh babe, say you will

Get closer to me
Get closer baby
Closer, get closer
Closer to me
I'm the first mammal to wear pants.
