What do you think of his version of Unchained Melody as sung right before his death, distorted but beautiful. I think he was crying out for help and no one heard him. Anyway, as Prince would say, Elvis is king. | |

That version of "Unchained Melody" was amazing, especially considering how close he was to his death. It's easy and lazy to just throw out judgmental statements, it takes thought and effort to get to anything of substance, people being lazy would opt for the former. Nevertheless, if these people ever had a chance to be in the presence of Elvis or to feel the electricity that he could generate, their would be no denying, as there is no great artist, how great he is. Forget the rumours, the image, the lifestyle with Elvis (or Prince) and you have something that cannot be denied and will go down in history. | |

I've often thought, listening to his later recordings and performances, that you could hear his pain in his voice. Even when he's singing an upbeat number, it all had a sad edge to it toward the end. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!" | |
