Song Of The Day: "Passion" by Rod Stewart

One of my favorite Rod Stewart songs is "Passion". Not only was this song played on pop radio, it also received massive R&B radio airplay in my area. Give it up.

Even the president needs passion.....

That song was sexy like a muthafucka. I also like Mille Jackson's version.

Yeah, Millie could definately put a different spin on a song and turn it into one of her own classics.

If you dug Passion...

...Infatuation was a funkier Rod Stewart single.

(it even featured a Jeff Beck guitar solo)

I'm with you! Passion is a great one, but Infatuation is the tune for me. music In fact, that song was my introduction to that word! lol I had to look it up in the dictionary to understand the song. And the video reminded me of Body Double, a movie I was obsessed with around the same time.

Do you remember the name of the model Rod was doing the peeping tom on in that video?

She was kind of a hottie if I remember.

Aah, OK. wink

The only strange thing about the video was the Jeff Beck section.
It looked like it was done at another location and just dropped into the video to give him some face time.

Good thread! I love "Passion". The lyrics are cold blooded! And the bassline is STOOPID! One of my faves, without a doubt. This song, I believe, musically, was greatly influenced by Pink Floyd's "Another Brick In The Wall'.
SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."
nammie "What BGZ says I believe. I have the biggest crush on him."

When I was a kid, I used to crack the girls up whenever I said "New York, Moscow. Hong Kong, Tokyo." Maybe it was the way I said it. The lyrics are killing.
"Even the president needs pasion.
"Everybody I knows needs some passion.
"Some people die and kill for passion.
"Nobody admits they need passion.
"Some people are scared of passion.

I definately remember "Infatuation" and love it. Is "Some Guys Have All The Luck" on that same album? I love that one too. I've seen these two on greatest hits compilations but I want the complete album. I haven't seen it in the stores so I guess I'm going to have to get them to order it for me. That was the last album of Rod's that I like....then he went all mellow on us. lol

They're both on...

...Camouflage.

You'd probably dig the title cut.
Also included are really weird takes on two classic tunes.
Todd Rundgren's Can We Still Be Friends and Free's All Right Now confused
The All Right Now take is especially sad because that tune, with the proper arrangement, would've been tailor made for a Jeff Beck/Faces era Rod.

And yeah he's kinda gone from "Rockin' Rod" to "Odd Stewart". wink

Well Actually, I kind of liked their arrangement of Allright now eventhough it was on the pop side.

Yeah, it just that the Free version is such a cool guitar tune. guitar
The air between those riffs let the groove breath.
All the techno-like synth sounds in Rod's version kinda choked the life out of it for me. smile
