30th Anniversary Edition Of Ziggy Stardust

I recently brought this set on Saturday and it sounds good. I really do like that unreleased mix of "Moonage Daydream". There are a lot of surprises contained in this classic package. You get demos, single mixes, and just some stuff that wasn't on this visionary album. There's one problem I have with the package though. The packaging is starting to come apart and the book is starting to to lose it's staples. The discs were scratched so I just put them in a different. Is this some kind of defect.

yeah, the packaging on that ziggy reissue package isn't the sturdiest in the world. i haven't exactly played my copy to death, but it's starting to come apart all the same. kinda sucks. the content on that collection, however, is fantastic.

Yep,there has been alot of complaints on the packaging of the 30th anniversary.I had purchased Eddie Hazel's rhino handmade from someone, and then found the digipack was cracked,so the seller wouldn't ship mad At least he was honest, but it's oop confused Digipacks SUCK

some digipacks are okay - i really like the way bowie's outside/earthling/hours reissues were packaged - they were like little hardback books with glossy covers. those seem really durable. i also have a diamanda galas CD with the same kind of packaging, and i'm really in favor of how it looks...very handsome. as for the way the ziggy reissue was made, it seems like they did a better job with the aladdin sane reissue...that one hasn't fallen apart on me yet. i HATE the way the diamond dogs reissue was packaged, though. very cheap.

That's a good example.Anxiety, the problem I have is,if the part that holds the cd cracks, your out of luck.Like some of the dylan sacd's I received. At least regular jewel cases, you can replace.

yeah. i really only bust that CD out when i'm making comps for people or when i REALLY just have to listen to it. i'm very careful with my copy of it, which sucks, because i hate having to feel like i have to be delicate with stuff in my collection. i do like the gatefold sleeve idea, though. it's the box that holds it all together that i think is shoddy.

I don't really like digipaks that much either. R. Kelly's R. album came in a very unsturdy digipak that just keeps wearing out on the spines and they kept scratching the discs.

I love the Ziggy one as well. I think he did the best job in terms of offering goodies on the 2nd disc, although most were already released. The subsequent two seemed more than a little lacking to me. Anybody heard ANYTHING about the "Young Americans" one?

i liked the aladdin sane re-issue, though i wasn't too thrilled with some of those live recordings - as bad as the quality of a few of those tracks were, i'd just as soon have had fewer tracks on the bonus disc. i have bootlegs with better quality than those tracks. but i know people eat that shit up. shrug

I just wish they would've thrown some extras on there, like maybe the "Drive-In Saturday" edit or "Zion".

Most of that 2nd disc seems like filler. sad
