My name is Anxiety and I am a bossanova addict. I'm sitting here right now listening to a compilation of Astrud Gilberto, and totally having a geekgasm over it. My god, where has this music been all my life?
After hearing Bebel Gilberto's album earlier this Spring and then picking up the Nouvelle Vagues CD, I can't deny it anymore. It's all about the bossanova for me this summer. Can't help it. The stuff's too gorgeous and melodic. Yummy. I'm not sure what else I should be checking out during this latest obsession...any recommendations? Till I'm pointed in the right direction, I'll just continue grooving to Astrud crooning "How Insensitive". Delicious.

I'd love to hear some of the real stuff they don't export that much outside the region.
And by the way, you're getting old.

And by the way, you're getting old. old age i'll be the most mellow guy at lollapalooza this year, what can i say. actually, come to think of it, it's not an old age thing, really (though i am a geezer, no mistake about it)...i'm a big fan of stereolab and beck, and stuff like astrud is really just a logical extension of stuff i've been digging for years.

How Insensitive is a truly beautiful song.
There have been many great Jazz treatments of this piece. However, this one... ...by William Shatner get's very little attention. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

It's a summer phase I think, Anxiety.
I'm listening to Towa Tei feat. Bebel Gilberto "Technova (La em Copacabana)" this morning.

Bebel Gilberto "Technova (La em Copacabana)" this morning. i wanna find bebel's older albums, with the remixed stuff and the more electronica-inspired music. i'm really in love with her most recent album, though - i'm a little scared that her older stuff won't be as good...but i'm willing to give it a listen. i can imagine the song with towa tei is nice.

Hi Anx! My name is sinisterpentatonic and i've been an addict for the last 3 years.
The label that bebel is on has some really nice nova. Lucky you! They just released this album. There's some beautiful stuff on here, if you're digging Bebel you should dig this as well. The album he has before this Natural is also nice. and if you can, you need to get you hands on this album by Coralie Clement: This gem was lost in the 70's but resurfaced sometime last year (at least on my radar ) I love this album! You might also enjoy The Brazilian Girls lastest release. Its not pure bossa, kind of a mixture of Bossa, techno, downtempo, i think its hot!

Yeah, but we already knew you were light in the loafers. Why start a whole thread to bring the point home?

really? there are some vocalists on the CD who i like more than others, but so far, it's one of my favorites of the year. 'a forest', 'this is not a love song', 'love will tear us apart' and 'too drunk to fuck' are really faboo in my book. the one where the vocalist sings like a turkey on helium, i could do without. oh, and 'making plans for nigel'?
