Joni Mitchelll..TAMING THE TIGER album

How is this album? I initially was drawn to it becuase of my love of the song MAN FROM MARS. I never knew it was by Joni.. I initially heard it on Chaka Khan's jazz dvd and I fell in love with it the FIRST time I heard Chaka sing it...Chaka takes this song to another level..Then I bought a David Sanborn CD and he did an instrumental version of it and then I read the credits and saw that the song was written by Joni Mitchell. So I researched and learned that the name of the CD its from is TAMING THE TIGER..how is this CD?

it's not that good. I LOVE Joni, but I was really suprised she would put out something like this following the resurgence of Turbulent Indigo. My copy has been collecting dust for years now.

I really think that the album was a rememberance of her Hejira days were she was foraying into experimental and deep jazz. The only think that really amazes me and mostly anyone who hears the album is that she uses more of an updated production and she plays some kind of synthesizer guitar. I once borrowed this album from someone and I had to give it back because most of the material didn't excite me, I probably enjoyed only 3 tracks on that album. It was a big disappointment for me.

I think it's a bit more hit than miss.

I love the songs Harlem in Havana,Man from Mars,Love Puts On A New Face,The Crazy Cries Of Love and Happiness Is The Best Facelift.

Lead Balloon is an attempt at "heavy metal" which sounds very out of place and though I like some of the music to both No Apologies and Taming The Tiger, they just seem to linger in both lyric and musical oblivion.

Stay In Touch and Here's To You are lovely songs that help to end the album to a nice resolve.

Buy it.

I don't remember any of it. Listened to it only a couple of times. I do have "Turbulent Indigo" though, and it's not the best record in the world either.
