Sly's brother, Freddie Stone.

So there really was some family Stone in the band. His voice sounds a bit like Sly's, too. I always wondered about that.

sly was a pretty good rhythm guitarist too, though I don't know which songs prominently feature him on guitar.

btw, aud and pali, what are some tracks that display jimi's ability to play rhythm, lead and the bass register of the guitar at the same time?

To your comment about Sly's playing guitar. Sly played a lot of guitar and bass on "There's A Riot Goin' On" and of course his solo albums like Fresh.

jack..check out "Ezy Ryder" and "Villanova Junction" for Jimi's "bass/rhythm/lead" work. Also check out his long solo after the "Banner" in "Woodstock". He plays bass with his long thumb, runs octaves with his fingers, and plays trills with his pinky..ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!..Aud, Pali, and Black, Am I correct with this? Black is right, Sly had his own little funky rhythm style on wah wah guitar and slow "chicken pickin" Tele licks.

Listen to any of Jimi's live CDs. He switches from lead to rhythm and back so effortlessly , it boggles the mind.

That's the ticket. MrTation hit it right on the head.
The studio albums can fool you if you don't focus on a singular guitar track.
With the live stuff, you don't have to worry about that.
