I have respect for Sammy and he seems like a cool guy, but Dave with VH is the ONLY VH that I love. They were an influential rock band that a lot of L.A. bands tried to emulate in the late 80's.
Yeah, I never seen that one with the Les Paul either. Eddie's looking like "What? Don't look at me" and shit.

Wow Black!! You played Gazzari's??..That's cool! At least you got to play on the same stage he jammed on. The original VH just had everything. The songs, the animation, the guitar (of course) and the party vibe. I hope you were able to bust out a little "Eruption"/Floyd Rose action on that legendary stage. (lol)

I'm not even going to front. "Eruption"? Hell nah. I was jamming good though, as Ziggy says. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

lol...It's cool..I was never that good at jammin' on that either. A little off topic, but I met Mike Hampton back in the mid 80's and this was when he was string to get fed up w/ George and his antics. He said he was going to take a break from the "P" and put together a "Van Halen" influenced rock band. (Mike was a big fan). Just 4 musicians with his guitar up front. No keys, horns, percussion, etc. Well, it's almost 20 years later and it still hasn't come out. (lol)

I get stressed badly enough listening to Zakk Wylde, don't make me hang up my guitar for good! Yes, you will kill yourself if you hear "Spanish Fly" off Van Halen II. I just heard an excerpt of Spanish Fly on the net....! WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO ME, HOW CRUEL AND HEARTLESS CAN YOU BE?!?!? *sells guitar on eBay and buys a Teach-Yourself-Knitting book instead

NOW, I can get up on Eddie's leads, but I was still in high school then. Yeah, as I mentioned on here a couple of times before, I've never been crazy about Mike's playing. I 've met him too, at a P-Funk All Stars gig at The Strand. That's the same time I met Blackbyrd. Now, that's the cat that can throw down! I think, after Hazel, Dwayne is the man in George's camp. But, I can definately see Mike doing some Van Halen type material. Remember Dan Reed Network? They were on that Prince/Van halen tip. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. I really thoroughly ride the fence on this one. They both had a number of excellent songs, and I can't really say anything bad about either versions. All I can say, is that Sammy has aged MUCH better in every aspect. When Sam & Dave did their co-headlining tour it was almost embarrassing to watch what Dave has become. If I want your opinion, I'll beat it outta ya!

David Lee Roth Quotes
He who knows how will always work for he who knows why. I used to have a drug problem, now I make enough money. I used to jog but the ice cubes kept falling out of my glass. It doesn't get better, it doesn't get worse, but it sure gets different! Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a yacht big enough to pull up right alongside it. Music is like girlfriends to me; I'm continually astonished by the choices other people make. People ask me how far I've come. And I tell them twelve feet: from the audience to the stage. The world's a stage, and I want the brightest spot. When you get something like MTV, it's like regular television. You get it, and at first it's novel and brand new and then you watch every channel, every show. And then you become a little more selective and more selective, until ultimately... you wind up with a radio. a psychotic is someone who just figured out what's going on

RipHer2Shreds said: Is there anyone who prefers Van Halen when they were fronted by Sammy Hagar over David Lee Roth? I like a lot of 5150. I can't say that I prefer it to earlier Van Halen tunes like Runnin' with the Devil, Jamie's Cryin', Beautiful Girls or Hot for Teacher, but I do think much on that album is superior to 1984. I know that one's a classic, but I think it hasn't aged very well. Then again, the same can be said for the production on 5150 and definitely on OU812.
I perfer the old-school DLR over the old-school or modern-day Sammy Hager.
