New McCartney album coming I'm excited. He's doing it all solo like the McCartney and McCartney 2 albums. Like Prince, I prefer it when he plays drums, keyboards, bass and guitar without a backing band. He's touring this summer, but everything sold out so quickly and he's not coming to Indianapolis

Not to mention Nigel Godrich is the producer... that alone with mccartney gives me a 95% chance it will be his best album in the last 10 years.. or at least thats what im hoping.. the elements are all there.. just hope the magic happened

I like his last few albums, but miss that spontaneous funky stuff like "Check My Machine" and such. I hope he showcases his guitar skills a little bit on this album.

Consider yourself lucky. McCartney's crap. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

For every great song (Band on the Run, Live & Let Die, Bluebird, Let Em In, Coming Up), there are hundreds of Frog Choruses - aka crap. That subjective enough for you? Consider yourself lucky. McCartney's crap. I do. It would be more intelligent for you to ignore the thread than to incite an argument. Many people love Paul and I'm one of 'em, so please no more "McCartney's crap" please.

Sure will, pops. Enjoy Macca. Now, now Shapeshifter. Just because you haven't sat through a whole Macca album doesn't mean he sucks. Give "Ram", "Red Rose Speedway", "Band on the Run", "Back to the Egg", and "Flaming Pie" a chance. You might find he's not as dull as you think.
Really, for every Ebony and Ivory, there are usually three or four great, unknown album tracks.

Oh, that's cool. Sorry to hear that, though. Are you a big John Lennon fan by chance?

Read and responded to every one of my immature bleatings. Bit of a bully aren't you, picking on your intellectual inferiors. Tell me, out of interest, where do you stand on London Town? (the album, not the place). You see, it was my first exposure to Mac. My mother had the album on pic disc. Used to play it all the time. Unbelievable fucking torture from which I can't say I've ever recovered. I got my own back though, a year later. I put the album on the radiator and watched it turn into a Dali clock. I'm a big McCartney fan, obviously, but I do have to agree that London Town was a completely forgettable album.

He recorded most of that on a boat! "With A Little Luck", "Girlfriend" and "I'm Carrying" are great songs. It is my least favorite Paul album, but I would hardly say it's 'completely forgettable.'

I think there are some decent songs on there buried beneath the subpar production. I guess I didn't like the overly synthed, plasticy sound of that project. With a Little Luck is certainly a nice single. And I recall liking "I'm Carrying".
I would have never noticed the song "Girlfriend" had MJ never covered it.

anybody else like the Pipes of Peace album? I think that one is a bit underrated. I love the track So Bad.
Tug of War is great, too - except Ebony and Ivory (shudder)

I'm a fan of Paul,but I gotta admit...
Shapeshifter's comments are cracking me up

love Pipes of Peace. Definitely gets a bad rap. In fact, that's my favorite album of his from the 80s, even more than Tug of War.

Pipes of Peace is my least favourite Paul album. McCartney, like most 60's / 70's greats did not get through the 1980's unscathed (see Bowie, Stevie W, Rolling Stones). He just couldnt adapt. He didn't know what he was meant to be in this decade, and whilst Tug Of War was a very nice, polished affair, he didn't produce another great album until 89's Flowers In The Dirt. The whole Pipes Of Peace / Give My Regards To Broad St era were absolutely dreadful.
I think my favourite mccartney records are his debut album, Ram, Band On The Run, Venus & Mars & Back To The Egg. I think its definitely fair that he was a better singles artist post Beatles, but these albums are all worth checking out as they contain some cracking album tracks. As for his modern solo work, I actually quite like most stuff from Flowers In The Dirt onwards. His collaborations with Elvis Costello have been his best work in the 90's, however Flaming Pie was a great solo album. I also really liked his last solo album, Driving Rain too. It had a good band sound to it, and the production was quite cool. Regardless of whether people like all his stuff or just the odd song, there is no denying he is one of the greatest songwriters in modern music.
