These selections are all over the place. The original post needs to be more specific. Classic rock? Punk rock? Folk? Indie? Metal?

Totally depends on what kind of rock you want--metal, pop, punk, progressive, classic, etc. Here's my faves at the moment.

For new stuff: the White Stripes--White Blood Cells & Elephant.
also Radiohead--OK Computer, Hail to the Thief

For ten years ago: Nirvana--Nevermind
also: Red Hot Chili Peppers--Blood Sugar Sex Magic

For 20 years ago: U2--The Joshua Tree

For 25 Years Ago: The Clash--London Calling

For 30+ years Ago: The Rolling Stones--Hot Rocks, Let It Bleed
: Led Zepplin--1-4 & Physical Graffiti
: The Beatles--The White Album, Abbey Road

Stone Roses 1st album
Oasis - Definitely Maybe
Bruce Springsteen - The River
U2 - War, Unforgetable Fire, Joshua Tree...whoever said Pop has got be out of their mind...stay away from that one if you want a rock album.
The Clash - 1st UK album and London Calling

...and all those others people have been listing...Floyd, Beatles, Zep, and Stones, any one of those are perfect intros to rock (esp Zeppelin imo).

Check out American Beauty by The Grateful Dead while your at it. cool

I hope whoever said Thriller is joking... neutral

I just think that U2 have some far better albums under their belt than Pop shrug

Each to their own.
