Earth, Wind, & Fire's All N All and That's The Way Of The World- Which One Is Better?

I love both of them but I would personally have to say All N All from 1977. With that album, they were able to find something new and do something more inventive. Alot of people never knew that a group at that time could ever do something out-of-this world. After Charles Stepney's death, they felt that they could make a powerful production by themselves. I feel that all of these tracks are timeless. That's The Way Of The World is an excellent one too, but some of the tracks just sound too commercial for me. "See The Light" is a personal fave of mine from that album. All N All, on the other hand, is their Sgt's. Pepper because they brought a strong and new Afro-Centric and South America sound in their music and this album represented Maurice's learnings from India, where he traveled back in 1976-1977. So, All N All beats TTWOTW down all the way. All N All represents them at their peak. So which one do you like better:

In my opinion, All N All had better songs from start to finish.

Damn, I love both, but IMO "That's the way of the world" has no filler where as "All N All" has a few songs that I skip. TTWOTW by a narrow margin. Damn you for makin me choose lol

My favourite is That's the way of the world.
It's got that perfect mix between the old EWF & the
slick sound of their later albums. The sound is just mindblowing,
the songs R excellent & it's just a very magical album.
A masterpiece the whole album throu. All the songs.

Definitely All N' All music

With this album, they took their music to another level. Before going into the studio to record it,they spent some time in Brazil, which gave them alot of inspiration and fresh ideas."Fantasy" is one of their finest, most original singles ever...in 1977,you didn't hear too many other funk/soul bands coming up with a sound like that.On "Runnin",the guys explored their Latin funk/jazz roots and the results are impressive. This album also contains a fair amount of sizzling funk jams: "Serpentine Fire","Magic Mind" and the blistering "Jupiter".And let's not forget the killer slow jams.On the dreamy"I'll Write A Song For You",Philip Bailey's vocals are just amazing. His voice just soars and soars. Not to be outdone,Maurice White handles the lead vocals on the closing number "Be Ever Wonderful",which is just blissful. The song is heavenly.Another slow jam from this album,"Loves' Holiday" has rightfully become a Quiet Storm staple. There are also several exotic interludes on this album, which are fun to listen to.Without question, this is Earth Wind and Fire's shining masterpiece.

There's a sentimental attachment to TTWOTW for personal reasons but i'd take All 'N All if I had to choose.

And that would only be topped by...

...I Am which includes one of my favorite tunes of all time, After The Love Has Gone.

All N All easily. That album, along with I Am, is the best work ever by EWF. It's an easy way to start a very, very good addiction. smile

Even though I know most of the songs on All N All, I would still give my vote to That's The Way of the World. I grew up listening to that record, and that's the only edge it gets. My parents didn't own All N All.

All n All is a better album from start to finish but "World" has 3 of the 10 best tracks EWF ever recorded. The title track, Reasons and Shinning Star are all classic. From that point alone, I'd have to go with "World"

nod Love's Holiday is a classic that didn't even have the benefit of becoming a commercial single. It was the B-side to September, but could have done just as well on its own. Definitely one of my all-time fave tracks of theirs.

And I abso-smurfly love the sing-along Steve Harvey conducts to it in The Original Kings of Comedy. The whole audience was singing along.

"Thats The Way Of The World" is my all time favorite EWF album...i have pretty much their whole collection (all the classic good albums anyway) and, as good as some of those classics are (including "All & All" which is a gem too) "TTWOTW" just holds a sentimental place with me... probably due partly to my age and memories from the time when it came out (it was a nice carefree time in my life)...but mainly due to the fact that its a damn near perfect record...
