Evanescence

They used to be one of my favorite bands. I still have their 2003 CD "Fallen." Eventually, though, they appeared to be too manufactured and cliched for my tastes, despite Amy Lee's personality and voice (yes, I like her voice), the lingering catchiness of their tunes, and the fact that their first CD, "Origin" (which is now out-of-print), is a better offering.

What did you guys think of them?

They're fucking annoying, but I do have to say that that "Origin" CD has grown on me a bit and is not as bad as that "Fallen" crap...

Indeed she's cute... I like "My Immortal" on "Origin" without those really awful and extremely amateurish and poorly mixed strings...

In my opinion this band is corporate goth rock. I bet all of their fans shop at hot Topic. What the fuck is she so down and depressed about anyway? Do I detect fake angst? No "real" goth would ever listen to Evanescence, sorry.

It's a demo album, it's sounds raw and not overproduced and "clean" like that crap "Fallen" release... And better songs and better versions of released songs...

Equally crap if not even worse, they sound like a cheap knock off of Evanescence trying to make a buck off their hype...

It's definitely crap but they fancy themselves as goths. Why, I don't know?!

It's pretty pathetic that people nowadays call themselves "Goths" (and do so probably because they think Marilyn Manson is Goth) when they've probably never even heard of Bauhaus or even Siouxie And The Banshees and The Sisters Of Mercy...
Evanescence's music isn't even remotely Goth and doesn't have a thing to do with it (it doesn't even sound like Gothic music)
It's just a form of music labeled as "Goth" by Industry hype machines (because it's the hip new thing...)
Next thing you'll know is they'll call Destiny's Child "Soul"...

That's the pirate/bootleg of the original release that was released on the "Wind-Up" label (bootlabel not the original "Wind-Up") after "Fallen" became a succes...
The original release was on "BigWig Enterprises" and has 11 tracks and was sold during some gig where I got it...

Someone here knows what they are talking about. Evanescence are a Christian rock band. And a bad one at that.

they are hideous, and Amy Lee couldn't sing on key if her very life depended on it.
