MJ in Vegas?

Michael Jackson Eyeing a Vegas Show?
May 26, 2005
A "Celebrity Justice" Exclusive.

As the Michael Jackson molestation trial winds down, "CJ" has learned the King of Pop could be headed to Las Vegas.

Sources tell us that, in the tradition of Céline Dion's "A New Day" and Elton John's "The Red Piano" at Caesar's Palace, Jackson may find a long-term home as the featured performer at the hottest new addition to the Vegas strip, the brand new Wynn Hotel and Casino.

Jackson hasn't taken the stage since his 2001 30th anniversary celebration, but our sources tell us he and Wynn hotel owner Steve Wynn have had numerous discussions about the potential gig for at least a year and half now. We also hear there may even be a standing offer already on the table.

Hotel magnate Steve Wynn has been making the rounds recently, touting the new Wynn hotel as the only one of his properties to bear his name. Wynn also owns the Mirage and Bellagio resorts and casinos. He and Jackson go way back -- way back to the 1980's. In 1989, not long after Jackson released "Man in the Mirror," he began hanging out at Wynn's then-brand new Mirage hotel. The two became fast friends and even tossed around ideas for joint projects. The friendship flourished through the years. Wynn was even named in the Jackson trial as a potential character witness for the defense, but was never called.

Jackson has shied away from touring ever since his lengthy legal disputes with European concert promoters, but well-placed sources tell "CJ" that a long-term gig in a place like Vegas is exactly the kind of offer Jackson would entertain should be he acquitted.

A spokesperson for the Wynn hotel would only tell us, "We’re not talking about this."

As for Jackson, we asked his rep, but as of this posting, there was no response.
