I dont like stevie wonder! Well, I like some of his stuff. And not just his late 80's-early 90's output. My dad has all his 70's albums, and says "why dont u like?". I just find alot of his songs beyond corny and syrapy. I dont get u guys at times. Maybe the sound is good, but his lyrics at times though
Oh well. He can be funky I know that, but then he goes too corny.

Wait a minute.....you find Stevie Wonder corny and syrapy (sic)????!!!
There is delicious irony there - check out your fucking musical catalogue! I thought you thrived on the most corny and syrapy (sic) shit imaginable. [Edited 5/20/05 19:05pm]

i'll go out on a limb here and agree. i mean, what the hey - it's only opinion, right?
i feel about stevie the way a lot of my non-prince-freak fans feel about prince: i think he's amazingly talented and brilliant - most likely a bona fide genius - but i really only like some of the hits, and after a certain point in his back catalog, i'm not really interested in what he's released. i really would like to get some of his legendary '70s albums and really give them a good listen someday - until then, i'm happy with my copy of 'original musiquarium'.

Any one-star records you don't like? [Edited 5/20/05 19:20pm]

But u can if i remember my brother now says I only like shit because no one else did. He may have a point there. Even though it cannot realy make sense. It just seems that way. Media poo poo anything that is now consider "dated". Unfortunately, I like the digital sounding stuff that grew dated quickly

Very corny There is really no accounting for taste but what are the two eighties albums by him you like. I recently bought "Characters" (which is cheesy but has a few notable tracks) and "Hotter Than July" (which is pretty good, overall) but he has made more than those two albums in the eighties.

To be fair, I think we've all had high-profile, universally loved artists that we just don't "get". It's tough and a bit awkward, especially when you have a lot of musical friends or belong to a musical community like this one, cuz you wonder what's wrong with you or what it is you're missing. Stevie isn't one of those artists for me, but I definitely have some.
