Appreciation Thread: Never Felt This Way - Brian Mcknight

You know, this is one of those piano tracks that when I was younger.. The way he played those notes, its like chords werent supposed to be played together, but he did it so gracefully and its one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.. I just popped it in, and it kindof made me sad.

It kindof made me sad that I had such a high expectation for Brian when this came out.. Now looking back.. his material now doesnt hold a candle.. to that ONE song.

I guess it has a lot to do with the r&b'ish style he reflects now.. Its not bad, but I dont dig on it.. and its generic sounding..

This song is when he had it in him. This song is a beautiful composition..

way to go brian.. even if its one songs worth.

I agree w/ everything you just said. This song is perfection, plain & simple nod I had high hopes for him too, then he got all formula & sappy & flat out lazy - he doesn't challenge himself, he doesn't challenge his audience. He just does schlock & watches the checks roll in. It's a fucking shame, what a waste of talent disbelief
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

No it is not because of the RnB style. It is because it is bad Rnb. You got a really talented guy making safe, generic music but selling millions when some of the neo-soul artist are doing much better work.

Check out a Raheem Devaugh.

It's sad b/c he's never even come close to that level of songwriting/performing again. What's even more sad is he probably never attempted to sad chair
