Marilyn Manson "Antichrist Superstar" Love/Hate Thread

I'm just listening to this CD (haven't heard it for ages cuz I buy too much CDs in a month lol ) and during every "playing" I realize how much I love it!!!

There's no doubt about that this is Manson's best ever! headbang

Every song is f.cking great, no fillers! My favourite ones are "Irresponsible Hate Anthem", "Dried Up, Tied And Dead To The World", "Tourniquet", "1996", "The Reflecting God" and "Man That You Fear".

Please, show your Love or Hate! cool

My real problem with Manson isn't his imagery, though it is a bit trite and oh-so-shocking (if you are a conservative American Baptist minister's wife, maybe), or his admittedly strong mind, but the fact that the music isn't good enough to back all of that up.

Far too trebley and tinny sounding, with not enough groove.

Bands like Slayer have been doing the anti-Christian thing for ever, you gotta come up with something far more interesting than that, Mr Manson, sir.

there were tons of bandwagoners who hopped on board when antichrist came out. me, i had been diggin 'im since "get your gunn" was fresh. that, and i was still in high school--all these preppy kids who didn't care for manson all the sudden just started latching on. it was like "wtf? where were ya'll yesterday? go back to listenin to pantera or oasis or whatever the hell you liked before..." lol

redface

The reason I became a fan after 'Antichrist' only is that I've never heard anything from MM before, BUT later I discovered his previous music like the cover of "Sweet Dreams" and "Get Your Gunn" - and "Lunchbox" is one of my fav Manson songs! cool

Tons of filler, actually. I like the fact that he was pretty goddamn satanic back then, never really managed to revisit that sound or the image again. He became, sort of, diet-version of himself. At least back then he was profoundly icky.

Oh great, now you made me look up the tracklist. Okay, here we go. Just a suggestion...

"Dried Up, Tied And Dead To The World"
"Little Horn"
"Mister Superstar"
"Angel With The Scabbed Wings"
"Kinderfeld"
"1996"

And why would anyone who digs Marilyn Manson be scared of really dark music, right?
