Chuck D gets no love!

Why is it whenever there is talk of "Greatest MC or Rapper of all time" Chuck D from Public Enemy is never mentioned? He is one of the best lyrical rappers of all time and controls the mic like no other...Hell I think he is one of the best front men of all time too...Why does Chuck get no love?
clever clever quotation - attention getting quote - sad yet witty remark - look at me! Im deep quote- song lyric about my ex cause that bitch stole my mp3 player! - line from movie I liked - Prince lyric - not very clever sig mocking other sigs

He does from me. And he's got the best voice for it - commanding, huge, loud, strong - he makes you stand up and take notice.

I always found with Public Enemy that Chuck D had a voice that just demanded respect and conveyed a definite DO NOT FUCK WITH THIS MAN attitude....

...and then Flavor Flav would start up with his whiney Yeaaaaah Boyyyyyzz routine and fuck it all up.

Flavor Flav is currently taking part in a reality TV show in Britain set on a farm.

I have no idea what Chuck D is doing, but I imagine it involves improving the quality of life for black kids in US ghettos and changing attitudes on gun crime.

Can you spot the cool PE member from the not-so-cool one...?

hmmm

I recently mentioned that on another thread: Chuck D and Rakim are the two top rappers in my book. And Public Enemy the top rap act ever, no contest for me.

worship worship worship
Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!

I first met Chuck in July 1978 during freshman orientation weekend at Adelphi Univerity. We were art design majors. I was from Uniondale, and Chuck was from Roosevelt. Even back then Chuck was tearing the mic up. He used to do parties with his DJ group Spectrum. Thursday night was dance party night at Adelphi, and sometimes Chuck & the boys were the DJs. Man I wish I had some of those early tapes - Chuck had no equal. He was also a DJ at WBAU, Adelphi's radio station. His shoutouts were legendary!

Chuck eventually dropped out of college and I lost track of him for several years. Then I read he and some cat named Flavor Flav formed a rap group called Public Enemy. And the rest is history.

Even though I haven't seen hi since the early 90's, I still consider Chuck a good friend. One of the top five rappers of all time. When it comes to social/political/historical rap, no one does it better.

He gets love from me because he is the best rapper of all time. He was on point with his lyrics and his voice. Right now minstrel rap is here to stay and I don't think Chuck will ever get the respect he deserves from his peers.

Chuck D is definately my favorite MC, because he really has something to say. Things that make sense.
Also read his book 'Fight The Power', good reading material.

Chuck D is definitely an icon -- not only are his lyrics powerful (for those that don't agree) besides that -- the effect he had on hip hop in 90's was phenominal -- alot of people don't realize that African- Americans had no cutural roots with our ancestors being taken from their homeland they were also robbed of religion and culture so it was up to this generation to create our own culture and we did that through hip hop and I give Chuck D full credit for taking it a step further and giving young African- Americans a sense of self.

In my opinion, he is a legend although I don't feel he got respect because they never really were consistent after their first two classic albums. And with Flav and Griff in the band, he got even less respect.

Did any of you read the book he published way back in the 90s, it was a good read esp the part about where he travelled to Africa, he seemed to come across very honest and humble.

he has always had my respect anyway as for Flava and the FARM,, WHY?>??

When we think of Chuck D, we think of the rap/hip-hop band Public Enemy all at once.

BTW, I think Chuck D is underrated. He needs to be in the top 10 best rap artist ever.
