Favorite Guitarists of the past 15 years or so

We all know the guitar heroes and legends, Hendrix, Hazel, Clapton, Santana, Ernie Isley, Jimmy Page, Mclaughlin, Prince, Jeff Beck, Holdsworth, Larry Carlton, etc. - Who are some of your favorite of the more recent guitarists, of the past 15 -20 years or so? Here are mine: (BTW: biggrin I need some photos of theAudience and Blackguitarz....)

Jean Paul Bourelly (Solo, Defunkt, Elvin Jones, Cassandra Wilson, Vernon Reid)

Jef Lee Johnson (Solo, D'Angelo, Sons Of Amighty, Rachelle Ferrell, Tawl Ross, Ronald Shannon Jackson)

Lewis Taylor

David "Fuse" Fiuczynski (Solo, Bernie Worrell, Screaming Headless Torsos, Meshell Ndegeocello)

David Ryan Harris (Solo, Dionne Farris, Follow For Now, John Mayer)

John Mayer

David Gilmore[Not the other, David Gilmour!]( Solo, Wayne Shorter, Lost Tribe)

Wayne Krantz

Jimi Hazel (24-7Spyz)

Charlie Hunter

Tracey "Spacey T" Singleton (Fishbone, Billy "Bass" Nelson)

Kurt Rosenwinkel (Solo, Qtip/Kamaal The Abstract)

Robert Randolph (Family Band, P-Funk)

Jeff Buckley

Van Hunt (Solo, Dionne Farris)

Allen Cato (Meshell Ndegeocello)[Damn! Can't find a picture...)

Brandon Ross (Cassandra Wilson, Jewel, Arrested Development,Henry Threadgill, The Lounge Lizards, Archie Shepp)

Foley [I know this is Lead Bass, actually , but the brotha solos better on four strings than alot of folks on six!] (Solo, Miles Davis, Lenny White, Arrested Development)

One guitarist who I have been impressed with over the last 15 years is Jennifer Turner.

Currently the guitarist with Furslide (which I know nothing about), Jennifer played guitar on Natalie Merchant's Tigerlily album, and, in my opinion, laid down some tasty tracks. She also toured with Merchant and did a hell of a job. A fine guitarist, if you ask me.

Good picks, Black. Neal and Randy are amazing..very underrated. Neal actually plays some cool funk-rock licks on Betty Davis' (Miles-ex) debut LP. Blackbird shreds too. Did you dig Jesse's last CD (Bare My Naked Soul)?

I saw her on Conan O'Brien and she was great. She's was doing all this fret-tapping and shit. Eddie Van Halen would be proud.

Somehow, when she does it, i'm not annoyed by it as I usually am.
With her it doesn't come off as if she doing some trick or can't think of anything else to play. Just me I guess.

biggrin So That's Where Randy is now!! I loved his stuff when he joined with Pieces Of A Dream, in the mid eighties, and later on , played guitar with a short-lived group on Columbia called Mission...I had both of Mission's albums , and Bowland wrote all the best stuff.....

Prince.. of course

Jesse Johnson.. I definitely miss his music

Joe Satriani.. I got hip to him while in college from a Guitar Music major (circa 1989)

Slash.. of Guns and Roses, not a fan of the group, but he can play

O'Dell.. of Mint Condition, how dare I forget him
.

biggrin Kool!! It's funny, I was wondering about whether to include Tuck...but the more I think about it, yeah, he definitely qualifies, around the late eighties or so...that man is dangerous on the guitar!!!
