I like Johnny Gill. Its just that sometimes he growls a little too much for my taste. Other than that, hes a great voice.

Bobby could never sing but like morris day, has alot of charisma vocally and on stage.
Ricky is very underated. He sounded shit as a kid but he grew up to have a great lil' voice. Johnny overcooks everything. Not as bad as aaron hall mind. He sounded best when growling on solo tracks like "rub you the right way". ralph has a silky smooth tennybopper voice. it has always sounded good. I like his rapping voice too. Ronnie? Ha Michael? Raps better then ronnie (but then who doesn't) I like ralph best. Like on "still in love with you" or "is it really love". I can hear passion in his voice. effort or whatever. Just like the tone. Funny that NE is the only boyband that had members where everyone could remember their names. Plus they all had different qualities (ronnies being the choreographer). Plus they were no doubt a supergroup. I know bobby is off key or whatever, but I really like his voice. Gives ballads like "pretty little girl" an edge.

That was a nice observation. I couldnt even describe what Ronnie's singing voice sounds like.

Then Ralph. I agree. But I do think Johnny's voice is too whiny and gospelish for his own good. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

Here's what I think...in order
1. Johnny 2. Ralph 3. Bobby 4. Ricky 5. Mike 6. Ronnie "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood...NOBODY!"

dreamfactory313 said: Does any1 here have the last BBD record? It was released in 2001. yep. it was average at best. "dr hotshit" is cool as is the poppy "in my crib". But it smacks of trying too hard to be tough and just sounds hollow. It is worse then "hootie mack". It also smacks of laziness and contract filler. I imagine few people can prefer this over the great "poison" or even "hootie mack"? Anyone remember Bobby Brown, wearing all pink (including hat) on mtv awards show singing an unreleased track called "tap into my heart"? it was such a good swing track yet it goes unreleased.

It mainly sucks. get it if cheap I guess? But a major dissapointment. Though nothing can top the sheer bordom of this record:- Even his 1993 b. brown posse album is a zillion times better then that weak ass record. It dropped to zero fanfare in 1997.

Ralph by far. | |

I think i'm gonna choose Bobby first and ralph asa close 2nd. Johnny has a great voice too buit little too gruff for my taste, however i love me some "rub you the right way". Remeber the video?
Can I also say that I love Bell Biv Devoe! The first cd is the shit. Hip hop, smoothed out on the r&B tip, with a pop feel, appeal to it!

No Contest.
Johnny Gill Ralph and Ricky do not have the chops to do a My, My, My or Lady Dujour. I still like their voices.

is this a serious question???
100 times out of 100, there's only 1 answer : Mr. "My, My, My" himself Johnny "rub you the right way" Gill JG has the strongest voice, the purest voice, the best vocal range.. he might even be in my TOP TEN MALE R&B SOUL SINGERS OF ALL TIME.. BUT I digress : so AFTER Johnny - & STRICTLY on the basis of their singing ability - I rank the other members of NE as follows : 2. Ricky "yo slick.. blow" Bell - by a THIN HAIR his voice seems a little stronger & a little better than 3. Ralph "Mr. Sensitivity" Tresvant - he can sing, his voice is.. "functional", & within the context of the group his voice is well-known 4. Bobby "split it 6 ways MY ASS" Brown - another decent, yet functional voice.. sometimes he sung FLAT & sometimes he.. tried to stretch his vocal range &/or his vocal chords.. 5. Mike "smack it up, flip it, RUB IT DOWN" Bivens / Ronnie "doe-eyed" DeVoe - now that I think of it, I am unaware that either of these 2 has had a lead or a co-lead in any NE or BBD song - can anyone with more NE/BBD knowledge confirm this for me?? otherwise, I could as well flip a coin.. I'll see you tonight..

Ralph has the kinda voice that is so smooth that he can sing a lullaby and you'd get goosepimples, kinda like MJ. Johnny's voice is much more confrontational. He growls so much. Johnny is cool though. Ricky Bell's voice is sort of a cross between the both of them.

either johnny or ralph.

Go back and listen to this goody!
I know that I can count on you When that’s not possible Tell me can you weather a storm ’cause I need somebody who will stand by me Through the good times and the bad times She would always-always be right there Sunny days everybody loves them-tell me baby Can you stand the rain Storms will come-this we know for sure Can you stand the rain Love unconditional I’m not asking just of you Girl to make it last I’ll do whatever needs to be done But I need somebody who will stand by me When it’s tough she won’t run She would always be right there for me. This is mostly a Ralph and Johnny song with a bit of Ricky. Ronnie and Mike are basicly part of the background as usual. Im listening to it right now.

Johnny will win in the strength department, I think he's the most natural talent.
Ralph has the clearest, clean re voice, a perfect lead voice. Ricky is the best of the rest, he can handle the basics of pitch and notes, he doesn't crack up or lose his breath. Bobby was just good enough, he could get away with just going with the flow, you wouldn't expect him to hit higher notes or octaves. Who's left? Jeux Sans Frontiers

I can't believe people are picking Ralph.
He doen't have the emotion and passion of Ricky, nor the strength of Bobby or Johnny. Just listen to that track on Whitney's lp, The Preacher's Wife soundtrack, with Faith, Monica, Johnny, and Bobby. Ralph is the worst voice on the track. Dude's just...OK. Here's how I rank 'em 1. Johnny 2. Ricky 3. Bobby 4. Ralph 5. Ronnie 6. Michael I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

I hate to say it but this time around I am inclined to agree with on this one. You opinion of the group was right on Sex.
