Chad van Gaalen [Recommended By CinisterCee and Me] download the three free songs from this site http://www.flemisheye.com/chad.php# CinisterCee first pointed him out on another thread so I went to the site to check out the free tunes. So it's safe to say that I'm in love now. I haven't been this enticed by a completely "new" artist since I don't know when. I love his voice and his harmonies. The reviews of his album are unanimously hysterical and I want to get the album asap. Problem is, it doesn't seem to be available over here in backwater dustville where I live. So if you know anything more about this guy or know of more material by him (reportedly he's written and recorded hundreds of songs which are being sold on cdr's at his concerts), please let me know!! thanx. oh come on. no one? I've just listened to those
three songs looped for about 6 times. i can't tell you what it is, but it just strikes a chord with me. it's the best thing i've heard in ages and ages. the more i listen to it the more the textures unfold. amazingly he plays all instruments himself. even more than prince does. he plays everything under the sun. and what can't be bought, he just seems to make himself. and that voice guess it's the kind of bjork thom yorke voice that a lot of people will hate. but i love it. i'm raving right now, i know. but let me. there is so much to lament in modern music that such a breath of fresh air as this is quickly becoming a rarity indeed. and when it does appear, it should be lauded. ok, done ranting now. i'll go to bed and be very ashamed of this tomorrow morning and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Chad van Gaalen
singer-songwriter, age 27 Chad van Gaalen is a reluctant rock star. He is egoless, preferring to sit for hours in his home studio recording more of his thousands of songs than get up on stage, or be interviewed by some magazine editor. A trained visual artist, van Gaalen graduated from the Alberta College of Art and Design with a printmaking degree, although he’s been making music since he was a teenager.

He found a guitar with only five strings in his mother’s basement, and began making songs. He bought a four-track at the age of fifteen. "It blew my mind," he says. The four-track allowed him to record multiple layers of sound, and was the beginning of his unbelievably prolific recording life.
In 2003, a friend with a local record label, Catch & Release, suggested he made a compilation CD, and van Gaalen started going through his library. By that time he had recorded hundreds of discs, and his first CD Infiniheart has songs spanning seven years. Van Gaalen writes and records songs like most people write in their journal. "Music is a healing force in the universe," he says. As a result, the tracks are deeply personal, and difficult to put out for public consumption. "I never imagined myself a performer," he says.
