I went vinyl shopping this weekend and this is what I bought... Found some good, rare vinyl albums (used) at unbelievably low prices...
Sister Sledge 'Love Somebody Today'(1980)---paid only $1.95 for this one.I had been looking for this album for a long time. It's their follow-up to the successful 'We Are Family' album and once again,it was produced by Chic masterminds Niles Rodgers and Bernard Edwards.'We Are Family' is a hard act to follow, but this album is SUPERB! I think it's just as great as the previous album. Some of the songs have a jazzy feel to them. The songs "You Fooled Around" and "Easy Street" are the highlights, imo."Let's Go On Vacation" and the ballad "I'm A Good Girl" are also noteworthy.I love this album!!!! KC and The Sunshine Band 'Do You Wanna Go Party'(1979)---paid only $1.95 for this record.Didn't get a chance to hear it yet.It contains the title track (which I consider to be one of their most underrated singles) and "Please Don't Go".I think this was their last hit album. Anita Ward 'Songs Of Love'(1979)---paid only $1.95 for this one.Contains the big disco hit "Ring My Bell",which is presented in a cool, extended version.I was always curious about what the other songs sound like.I haven't had a chance to hear this album yet,but I heard that the other songs aren't really disco at all....mostly soul ballads and midtempo stuff. Natalie Cole 'Natalie'(1976)---paid only $1.95 for this record. This is her second album, containing the hits "Sophisticated Lady" and "Mr.Melody".This was a big R&B album in the summer of 1976.These days,it's impossible to find many of her 70s albums on CD,so I was thrilled when I found this. Natalie Cole 'Unpredictable'(1977)---paid only $1.95 for this one. This album contains my favorite Natalie Cole song---"I've Got Love On My Mind". Rick James 'Fire It Up'(1979)---paid $5.95 for this album.I had never heard it before.Contains the minor hits "Love Gun" and "Come Into My Life".I don't think this is considered one of Rick's best albums. The songwriting isn't very strong. But since Motown is taking forever to remaster his catalog,I'm glad that I found it. Tavares 'In The City'(1975)---paid $3.95 for this one.I'm a huge Tavares fan,and I'm in the process of collecting all of their albums. This album is notable for the hit single "It Only Takes A Minute",which was their first real "disco" hit. This album also contains a cover of the rock classic "Free Ride". Philip Bailey 'Inside Out'(1986)---paid only $1.00 for this album. For the most part,I wasn't a really big fan of Phil's solo stuff.Much of it sounds too slick and commercial.I only bought this album for the song "Echo My Heart".I don't think it was ever released as a single, but I do recall hearing it in a store one day. It's a superb song. Chic 'Take It Off'(1981)---paid $3.95 for this album. After reading a book about Chic,I am in the process of collecting all of their albums.Until now,I didn't have any of their 80s albums. This album contains the hit "Stage Fright".I used to have the 45. The Emotions' Sunbeam'(1978)---this is a promo copy.Paid only $1.00 for it.Their previous album 'Rejoice' contained their biggest hit---"Best Of My Love".This was the eagerly-anticipated follow-up.It didn't do that well, but there were a few minor hits---"Smile" and "Walking The Line".This was their third album to be produced by Maurice White of EW&F. Did anyone else buy any used vinyl this weekend?

I would love to have Natalie Cole's "Inseparable" on vinyl just for the cover alone.

I've got to get this one. All I have is the single version of "Do You Wanna Go Party" on a greatest hits compilation. I want the version with the live crowd at the beginning of the song.
I love the extended version with the long breakdown in the middle with the cowbells, or whatever they are. I also love the drums at the end. I was disappointed with the album also because there was only one fast jam on the entire album.
So you finally got around to getting this one. Your collection should be about complete now. You need to give this one a few more listens. For years, I only liked "Fire It Up", "Love Gun", "Lovin' You Is A Pleasure", and "Come Into My Life". When I finally really sat down and listened to the entire album, I absolutely fell in love with the slow jam "Love In The Night". Rick even screams a little on this one. The screams can't compete with Prince's screams but, hey, Rick gave it a shot. I even began to warm up to and enjoy "Stormy Love" and "When Love Is Gone". Chic 'Take It Off'(1981)---paid $3.95 for this album. After reading a book about Chic,I am in the process of collecting all of their albums.Until now,I didn't have any of their 80s albums. This album contains the hit "Stage Fright".I used to have the 45.
You should check out their 1983 single called "Give Me The Lovin'". The song has a slight Jam and Lewis feel to it (even though it's not Jam and Lewis). It reminds me a little of the stuff Jam and Lewis did for the group Change. Andy is a four letter word.
