"Tonight" and "Deep Inside Your Love" were some serious slow jams back in 1985.

All of their ballads from their first album oozed P, but did it in a way without straight robbin' from P.

I remember the first time I heard it watching my mom open up the plastic from the Ready For The World LP and I said, "that's not Oh Sheila" in my head.

Tonight is now one of my favorite slow jams of all time....I love the ending when the guitar comes on and it goes in2 the "na na na boo boo" headbang then he just says "dont u worry bout a damn thing giiiiirrrllnoooowah!"
Then it just climaxes to the wind and the end acoustic guitar as the airy synth take u away touched
Straight Jacket Funk Affair
Album plays and love for vinyl records.

Great slow jam! There was a group that was out two years ealier in 1983 called Dreamboy. This group had a slow jam called "Don't Go". When I first heard "Tonight" by Ready For The World, I swore it was Dreamboy. The two groups sound just alike. I wonder if Dreamboy ever did anything else, if they did, I never heard it.

I also wonder if Dreamboy and Ready were the same group since they both were from Michigan.

Dreamboy's first album (released in late 1983) featured two hits: the slow jam "Don't Go",and a great uptempo funk jam called "Walk The Streets",which received alot of airplay in my area.

Their second album was released in 1984.It featured the hit ballad "I Promise (I Do Love You)".I don't think they did any other albums, but I could be wrong.

Maybe that's why I like them. I don't listen to lyrics. Even when I know them, I don't pay attention to them. I'm more into music and vocal styles as opposed to words. My friend had to explain to me what "Little Red Corvette" was about even though I had known all the words for years. boxed

Not to change the subject but they had another song called "Digital Display"...the lyrics were kinda corny, but the guitar solo ripped. Melvin Riley actually had a better singing voice in his 90's solo stuff.

RFTW was the shit!

A lot of people only remember their crossover hits - Oh Shelia and Love U Down, but Tonight is surely a fan favorite.

I saw them perform with New Edition and Morris Day in New York City.

I don't remember the year?....1980 something, LOL, maybe 86? If someone remembers when that tour was going on, please let me know. Bobby Brown was not present - that's one hint.
