Anybody saw the CBS TV Special, Elvis? I really think it was incomplete. It would take about 3 or 4 parts to cover Elvis' whole lifestory. The first part, which CBS aired on Sunday (Mother's Day)-- was near-perfect. In some ways, the second part just made the story skimpy. CBS made one of the most crappiest TV specials ever. Did anybody see the ELVIS special on CBS?

What I did see was "Elvis by the Presleys", the show that aired Friday night. This was very good, with previously unseen performances and home videos, and Priscilla, Lisa Marie and other family members talking about life with Elvis. I really enjoyed it. http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista

I watched the "Elvis By the Presleys" special on Friday. It kind of made me sad. Ironically enough, the night before (Thursday) I watched a show on the Discovery Channel called "Judy Garland: Medical Secrets." In it, they illustrated how her addictions stemmed from having a genetic disorder that perpetuates addictions. As I watched the Elvis special, I couldn't help but make the same comparisons. They both died too soon, burned out too soon, and were immensley talented. (Lisa Marie and Liza may also be on similar paths, considering the genetic gene they talked about, not to mention environment.)

I have cried more for this man than perhaps any other in my life, and I'm being
serious. My Dad baptized me in Elvis from birth and he died when I was only 7. It was the single most tragic day in my life. (I know, I know, but it's true. Thank God, I have not lost anyone in my family.) I was touched to hear Lisa (who I've met and had the pleasure to speak with and hug and introduce my children and parents to) talk about "the day." She has never before recanted any of that in public. I thought the show was extremely well done. It was honest, but no gratuitous. It showed the side of Elvis that they saw, which none of us ever did or will.

[Edited 5/13/05 22:53pm] and regarding the movie, there has never been and never will be an actor who can touch Elvis' looks.
