Does Anybody Remember the Song by Silk Called "Freak Me"?

I have always loved this song, the music and lyrics remind me of a Prince song, before he went ultra-religious on us. :sulk:

I also think I like this song because I remember driving to a Prince concert in Detroit back in 1993, and this song came on the radio. My friend and I both said, "Ooh, I love this song!", and my male friend said, "You guys actually LIKE this song?" falloff I have a lot of good memories attached to this song, it is such a sexy jam. sigh

Silk lyrics
Freak Me lyrics

Let me lick you up and down
Til you say stop
Let me play with your body baby
Make you real hot
Let me do all the things you want me to do
Cuz tonight baby I wanna get freaky with you

Baby don't you understand
I wanna be your nasty man
I wanna make your body scream
And you will know just what I
(you know what I mean)
24 carat gold
To warm the nights when you get cold
I wanna lick you up and down
And then I wanna lay you down
C'mon silk

*chorus*

I love the taste of whipcream
Spread it on don't be mean
(baby don't be mean)
You know I can't resist you girl
I'll fly you all around the world
(all around the world, oh baby)
I wanna see your body drip
C'mon let me take a sip
(c'mon, c'mon, c'mon)
Take off what you cherish most
(c'mon,c'mon, come on, come on baby)
Cuz when I brag I like to brag and boast

*chorus*

You, you, you, you
Oh you
You, you, you, you
Let me freak you
You, you, you, you
All of you
I want it, I want it
You, you, you, you
Oh you
You, you, you, you
Let me do you
Cuz tonight baby, I wanna get freaky with you

*chorus*
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Yeah is one of the my favorite R&B groups. Their a must when it comes to grind mixes. I have all of their albums. The last one they one put out was good, but the weakest in their discography ("More" was the best song on it).

Psy, Silk was performing in Chicago on New Year's Eve in 1993 - I remember this because it was the night I proposed to my wife. I think watching my wife move to "Freak Me" put me over the top.

Man, y'all hating out of control. LOL!

Silk ain't tryna impersonate Prince, they do they own thing. As for as their fashion sense around that time, that was just the style of the early 90s new jack swing era.

Man, John-Jon is a bad ass vocalist. He has every bit of range that Prince does, but he has R&B finess, which Prince doesn't show as often. Plus, he usually does a lot of the tracks for Silk. He did almost all the vocals on "Meeting In My Bedroom" and displayed a hell of a lot of range on that song. Its too many R&B haters on this site. rolleyes

Didn't you know every black man that sings in falsetto is imitating Prince? Prince invented falsetto! Damn it, didn't you read the .org faq? I think its in there somewhere! As a matter of fact, Prince invented playing more than one instrument on a record, falsetto, splits, being black and playing guitar, ruffled shirts, high heels, big hair, harmonizing with himself, spins, kicks, and twirls, synths in songs, Linn-Drums (although some guy named Roger Linn claims he invented them, but we know better); he was the first to sing about sex, be sexy, do anything sexual onstage, wear purple, and he always writes everything that goes on all of his records. His musicians are just robot drones who play exactly what they are told to when they are told to how they are told to without question. Why? Because he is Prince, the purple saviour and we should all bow before the only genius who has ever existed in the history of music, that's why. These fools dare write a song called "Freak Me"? Hmmm, didn't Prince write a song called Do Me Baby? Do me - Freak me? Lose Control - Pussy control.....get it?!! Thieves! They stole that from Prince and should be dragged into the streets by their ballsacks until they confess! All hail his purple falsetto singing, dirty song writing badness! Die Silk, DIE! rolleyes lol falloff

For real though! Its like anything without a electric guitar isn't good or something.

But speaking og JonJon, I think he left the group cause he wasn't on their last album. sad

They only played it every fucking hour on the hour...

but it is a great bump n grind song. One of the best songs Keith Sweat didn't sing, but he produced and discovered the group - it had Keith's style (and signature moans) down 2 a tee. And the lead singer has a great soulful voice.

nod You're correct. As a matter fact, the group was even signed to Keith's label at that time and we're dropped the same time he was dropped from Elecktra/Warner.

There was a remix of SWV's "Downtown" that sampled the vocals from the end of "Freak Me"'s chorus.

Yeah, this was THE slow jam of 1993. This song was in that Ali G. movie, and it was hilarious. falloff Ali G. was singing the song out loud while fantasizing about the Secretary of the Prime Minister. lol

Yeah great song. Keith hooked them up on that one.

They had lush harmonies. I got the videos to this and "happy days". They were meant to play a london gig with NE last week I think?

"girl u for me" is the best song off "Lose control". Awesome angelic harmonies.

"baby its you" is one of the last newjack songs made. Good song
