My favourite: Prince Elton john Beck Brace springsteen Seal Elvis Phil colins Bryan Adams I think Bowie has a by far better voice than anybody listed there, bar Prince. Go and listen to an album like "Station To Station" or "Heathen" and get back with me.

Go and listen to an album like "Station To Station" or "Heathen" and get back with me. Im sorry, I like "Lets dance" and sum other song, but David Bowie doesn't do anything 4 me at all, He doesn't even touch Elton Johns, Princes, and Elvis's voice's. Keenmeister

If "Let's Dance" and some other song are all you know by him, you're sorely missing out!

I might step on some toes with this remark, but Prince isnt a very great ROCK-singer (in terms of raw, guitar-dominated music), his voice is to thin and he has to less lung capacity to carry of the ROCK tunes

My favourite: Prince Elton john Beck Bruce springsteen Seal Elvis Phil colins Bryan Adams Oh, my....! David Bowie is one of the greatest singers of all time and that is a FACT!!! Just listen to "Life On Mars?", "Word On A Wing", "Wild Is The Wind", "I Know It's Gonna Happen Someday" or "Bring Me The Disco King"... And if you don't really know too much about David's music then you should stop 'talking' bullshit about Him!!! [Edited 5/18/05 23:19pm]

that's like saying I'm a christian but I don't care for Jezus Sorry, that just ain't true. Elvis may have been the first blah blah blah but every single thing he did has been done better since. I'm not much of an Elvis fan. Casual at best. But the dude had one helluva voice. Whether your speaking about his rough "rock" voice of the earlier days of his career (a la Jailhouse Rock aka The Gayest Song Elvis Ever Sang) or his more operatic "Vegas" voice. Personally, I prefer the Vegas voice. It had this big, booming, sad quality to it. [Edited 5/19/05 1:17am] "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

And here'd be my list, in no semblance of order:
David Bowie Freddie Mercury Prince Janis Joplin Why am I the first to mention her? I know she's not technically rock, but she has her place in Rock History. Sure, it was rough and pretty thrashed sounding, but her voice was perfect for the music she did. Jim Morrison Eddie Vedder Robert Plant Elvis Bob Dylan Tom Petty Elton John Melissa Etheridge Chuck Berry Bruce Springsteen John Lennon Grace Slick afterthought edit: I just realized this thread specifically asked for male singers. My bad. Aw, who fucking cares? Women rockers don't get the appreciation they deserve. [Edited 5/19/05 1:23am] "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
