Oasis in new band backlash

After slagging off just about everybody, Oasis have been given a taste of their own medicine

In a recent interview, the Gallaghers described Kaiser Chiefs as “a bad Blur”, Keane as “t**ts”, the Libertines as “rubbish” and accusing Bloc Party of looking like they’re “on University Challenge”.

The new bands have hit back in this week’s NME, with Keane keyboardist Tim Rice-Oxley commenting,“He was in a band that was brilliant in the mid-1990s but they’re just not important anymore.”

Bloc Party guitarist Russell Lissack added: “I thought his comment about us was really poor. That was the same thing he said about Travis and Coldplay. I’m throwing down the gauntlet because we don’t hate Oasis, but I want a nice insult.”

Meanwhile, Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson retorted: “He had a go at me for wearing make-up, but I only ever wore make-up to look more like him.”

Oasis release their new single Lyla on Monday 16 May.

Have ever a band in the history of music been more irrelevant than Oasis are right now?

(OK, don't include The Alarm or Swing Out Sister,or such like, cos that's just cheating.)

It comes to something when Keane can make a point about one of the biggest british bands in the last 20 years and actually be right!

I can't believe these guys are still talking shit after all these years. Now they just seem like bitter arse holes. I thought Liam having his teeth knocked out would have shut his ass up but I guess not. What will it take? mad

i thought oasis was boring when they were all the rage - i've always been more of a blur boy, myself - but it seems like all these years, they've been coasting on the first couple of albums and never really branching out or growing or doing anything remotely interesting. i think they're just kinda silly these days. self-parody in action. i like hearing the gallagher brothers slag off other bands just because it makes those two look even more like a christopher guest movie waiting to happen.

sad gits. they made two decent albums, yes. and for a while there
they looked like they would be a lasting thing but they fucked it
up all by themselves by being tossers and releasing shite albums,
consistently shite albums for the latter part of their career.

Oasis has to talk shit, otherwise everyone would notice that their stuff is just a bunch of lame, half-assed Beatles rip-offs. Without the trash-talking, no one would care about them. They haven't done anything original or interesting their entire career.

Their first two albums were quite good, but the rest? Blah.

Oasis should never be allowed to talk to the press, LOL. They just get themselves in trouble.

But then again - that is probably their most redeeming quality. All the funny quotes when there is a new album coming out.

Sad and Pathetic, yes. That being said, i actually quite like the new single.

Yes, George said something about U2 and Oasis being "awful". Bono just laughed it off (and then dedicated a tongue-in cheek "Even Better Than The Real Thing" to him in concert), and said that George had a right to his opinion (Bono had nothing but kind words to say about him, and ultimately earned George's respect).

The Gallagher brothers, on the other hand, made a bunch of nasty remarks about him, and basically said that they were superior musicians to him (insert hysterical laughter here). They behaved, as always, as little shits. Sure, George started it, but let's face facts: the man is a legend, and deserves respect, even if he is being critical of your group.

Naw, even those two are just pathetic, warmed-over retreads of Sgt. Pepper era Beatle's licks. If those brothers had an original thought in their head, it would shock me.

Nah, i agree with cloudhead. Those 2 albums do kick ass even today. They got a innocent quality about them. They dont seem pretentious like say fucking blok party, and at the time, those albums were so fresh.

Noel is fucking funny at times though. He admitted not to buy his last album as it sucked. Now who else does that shit? Bloke is funny. Their more recent albums have there moments, but once u got the first 2 ("be here now" was ok too) then u got them all.

Those albums weren't "fresh" back then. They sounded like stale Beatles leftovers then, and they still do today. Oh, and they were INCREDIBLY pretentious.

He should admit that about ALL of their albums.

Bloke is funny.

If by "funny" you mean "complete and utter twat", then yeah, Noel is fucking hilarious.

Heck, I already own them all, since I have Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Revolver and Magical Mystery Tour.
