jamiroquai new album opinion

ok so ive been in2 jam for the last few years, really warming to the first 4 albums ,with funk oddessey , album 5, being my least fave ,although its still a gr8 album i feel that it just doesnt compare to any of their previous albums..

so now theyve released a new album (bout time!! 4 years later!!)

so what i wanna know is;

was it worth the wait??

is it along the same groovs as funk odd or is it a return to days of old???

I have heard three songs from the new album, and these are my thoughts...

"Electric Mistress"---a fast,electro/disco/funk jam.Would have fit perfectly on 'A Funk Odyssey'.Great bassline!

"Seven Days In Sunny June"---this will become a new Jamiroquai classic! A very nice, midtempo, breezy jam....not unlike "Virtual Insanity".GREAT SONG!! Usually, when I buy a new CD,I start by listening to it from start to finish. But when I get this CD,I'm going straight to this song!

"Feels Just Like It Should"---this is the first single. It's a rock/funk number (imagine a funkier version of "Deeper Underground" and you have an idea what this song sounds like). Not one of their strongest jams, and I suspect it is probably one of the album's weakest tracks. It has grown on me,though and the video is great.

Based on those three songs,I predict that this new album probably won't be a big departure from the last two albums, which focused more on a 70s-inspired funk/disco sound. In other words, this album will have more in common with 'A Funk Odyssey' than with 'Return Of The Space Cowboy' or 'Emergency On Planet Earth'.

MsLegs

I have heard some samples and it didn't seem funky enough for my tastes.

'Traveling Without Moving' is indeed a classic funk album. It's probably their most successful album here in the States.I love the first five or six songs.

'Synchronized' is the album that got me into their music.I was in a record store during the week it came out,and it was playing.I heard the first two tracks---"Canned Heat" and "Planet Home"---and I was hooked. At first,I thought it was some old, obscure 70s album....the sound was very retro, straight outta the late 70s.I asked the cashier who it was,and she handed me the CD.There are some amazing tracks on that CD---the aforementioned "Planet Home" and "Where Do We Go From Here" are modern-day funk classics,as far as I'm concerned."Canned Heat" is a superb modern-day disco jam.Like the best 70s disco hits,it's intoxicating and fun."Falling" is a wonderful slow jam.

Can't wait to see what the new album is like.

I've heard 2 tracks from the album

Seven Days In Sunny June sounds great - finally, something a bit special from a band that's normally kinda bland

Electric Mistress - Something a bit bland from a band that's normally kinda bland

Jamiroquai for me are one of those bands that could be so much more with a little soul now and again
