give it up for the 2 greatest men in soul that rarely get love

Mr.Tom dowd and Jerry wexler

these men were the sound of Atlantic records in the 50s through the 70s

small list

Aretha franklin
Otis Redding
the Clovers
The drifters
Charles Mingus
Ornette Coleman
Rufus Thomas
Iron Butterfly
Derek and the Dominoes
Sam n Dave
Booker T and the mg's

so lets show some love and appreciation for the 2 men that brought Atlantic and Stax to the ears of our parents who taught this soul to us.

by the time he was doing 8 track stereo mix.most companies were still.. lol using 4 track.

There's a documentary called Tom Dowd and the Language of Music I think. WONDERFUL. Un-be-fucking-leivable. It's a wonderful story...plus at the end, he sits at the soundboard and deconstructs Layla. INCREDIBLE> I heard stuff I NEVER knew was there.

Check out...

Not only was he the "bomb" musically and technically, he helped design and test the atomic bomb.
