I also saw them live in 86 at Magic Mountain of all places! It was a heavily promoted show for about 3 weeks or so. The park was packed! I had my jheri curl dropped and swung low along with a lot of other brothers and I was surprised at how many ladies were there. They were hyped up for Melvin. Whenever they did a ballad, it was ON! The band overall was alright. Kinda stiff. They sounded like they could have used a few more rehearsals before the show, but with all of the screaming from the the girls, a lot of people probably didn't even notice. Ok, dawg, but the REAL question is: Did you curl move in the back whenever you turned ya head? Cuz see, that's the REAL test of a BOMB ASS JHERI CURL! + + = Desire, it covers our faces

I was one of the first cats that I had seen to wear "plats" with a jheri! "Plats" meaning one big braid on each side hanging over the shoulders, Native Indian style. Come on, now! See, this is why I want your babies. I love me some moist jheri-curl wearing ass Ready for the World, but I despise this song and always will. Straight I do believe this song is where Keith Sweat got the idea to whine. | |
