Is Michael jealous of Prince and/or vice versa? I read somewhere ( and of course this could all be crap) that Prince was jealous of Michael's record sales/commercial success, and Michael was jealous of Prince's Oscar for Purple Rain....any info or comments? | |

I've always thought Michael was jealous of Prince. He has changed his appearance so much over the years to try to look like Prince, especially the hair. He even named not one, but two, of his sons Prince. Andy is a four letter word. | |

LoL. Prince is probably jealous of Michael's record sales. 300 Million! I doubt Prince is even close to that. But Michael is probably jealous of Prince as a musician. Jealous of his record sales huh?? If Prince was about records sales he: A. Would have made the album after Purple Rain sound like Purple Rain pt.2 and B. Would take 3-5 years between albums like MJ. Also, you are counting MJ's records since he was in the Jackson 5 also. Are we gonna count all of Prince's protege's and related artists, and songs he wrote for others??? "New Power slide...." |

Not jealousy but I think Prince influenced Michael Jackson a little. Mj did whisper in James Browns ear back in '83 and told him to call Prince on the stage so that tells you he was a fan. | |

I don't believe Michael has continually gotten under the plastic surgeon's knife and skipped merrily to the weave shop to look like Prince. His "Remember The Time" and "You Are Not Alone" hairstyles resembled 'dos Prince had previously sported but other than that, where are the similarities?
Sure, after "Purple Rain" became a phenomenon Michael started getting a tan complexion and wearing black eyeliner but that really could be due to a skin disorder and the androgyny boom respectively. And come on, during the years Michael was rocking a freaking mullet, was Prince? I don't think so, | |

To tell you truth, I feel that there may have been some friendly competition. But at the end of the day, they are at speaking terms and there isn't any anomosity towards one another b/c they both know how hard it was as talented Black Malesand industry how hard it is to be respected. So, this is why, Prince shares the same tailor as Micheal and was playing a Micheal Jackson song recently at one of his exclusive parties on 3121 in LA. Michael has kids of his own, Prince doesn't and obviously wanted some.
Prince's music career is still active, MJ's really isn't. Michael has been able to maintain the same level of popularity since the 80s by ALWAYS being in the headlines/tabloids for doing "crazy" things, being on trial, being crucified by the media, being referred to as "wacko Jacko" and is the butt of at least 93.5% of the jokes and parodies in the world. Prince sits back and rests easy not having to worry about being crucified by the media.....but he probably misses having that much popularity though. The intersting thing I noticed about Prince is that while he is generous in praise for those he considers his musical forebears (Joni Mitchell, James Brown, Carlos Santana, Hendrix, Zeppelin), he sometimes seems a little jealous of those he considers "rivals" in some way . I'm thinking of U2, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, and even MJ . He seems to begrudge them any favorable comments on their work or performances. I guess he's human, just like the rest of us ... #SOCIETYDEFINESU | |

Prince is a jealous little bitch when it comes to his contempories and wants to 'school' everyone in real music, MJ seems to think he has no peers seeing as he has outsold them all. they've both had huge ego's running amok throughout their careers.
Both piss me off at times for these reasons. JMHO. |
