My favorite of all of them. I think it's the quintesential GM album...combiining tastes his previous work into a nice cohesive package. I bought it based on what..a 15 second snippet of AMazing. (I suppose I was really ready for a new GM album to come out. I bought it 1st day it came out import...travelled to get it too.

My favorites on there..
AMazing
Precious Box (I spin this sometimes in my DJ set)
Freeek
American Angel
Please Send Me someone To Love

My first impression of the album was DANG IT'S LONG and filled with a lot of Ballads. Every song grew on me. Many of them progress and evolve. Always something new with each listen. After completely falling in love with it, I realized that if one has to wait 5 years for a GM album...well it may as be as long at it can.

y r u responding to my "immature" threads? we have nothing to talk about!

You are correct. Sorry I didn't realize it was YOUR thread. How foolish of me. Wait is this YOUR site too?

I was simply posting...I had NO idea you had restrictions about who can and can't post on your threads. I was simply responding.

He's an ex-boy-band chancer who got lucky cos he had a good face for posters.

No musical talent, takes himself far too seriously as an "artist" (you fucking wish mate) and has next to nothing to say of any interest.

He has stoopid hair, ridiculous beards throughout his solo career and can right royally fuck off for all I care.

NOW do you prefer it when I get all pissy about spelling instead...?

There is something about Cars and Trains that I love over all the other songs. I think it's his smooth voice over an undeniable groove. I also love the background vocals on that track.

John and Elvis are Dead is another song that showcases his beautiful voice as well as My Mother Had A Brother. I can't get through that one without tearing up. For me, almost every song has had their moment as my fave or second fave including Flawless which I think is hawt to death.

Not all Americans are stuck on the arrest. I don't care nor do the Americans I know that love George. He still makes great music and that's what counts. Him not touring is a heartbreaker.

I remember george having to defend himslef on CNN about that video. SOme americans have no humour (satire) at all. Very sad (that was not an america bash but just towards the morons who found that vidoe offensive)

Shame the song was kinda flat. It was ok, but then, most of his uptempo's these days are just ok.

As for "freeek", that shit was awesome.

Nah, Slash is a talented guitarist, more than just rough and ready ROCK that everyone and their dog can play, he has a subtlety and a melodic sensibility that other rock geetar slingers lack.

But hey, If you hate Slash or GNR, why not? Each to their own.

Actually, I much as I like George, he was kind of a pussy when it came to that song/video and the US response. Either he or his record company decided not to release it in the US cause it was "too controversial for America". Next thing you know he's on CNN saying that he's being misrepresented in the press, for a song that virtually noone over here even heard/saw.

imo, he should have just released the song in the States and taken the heat. You want to make a political song, fine. But don't trip when some people are offended by it. Goes with the territory.

didn't SLASH play the guitar solo in teh Black or White MJ song?

Maybe that's why teh song sucked so bad, but GM is teh subjest here, not SLASH and his inability to play guitars.

Yeah shame he or they backed down. Iam sure it was the company who backed down though. To be honest, I think some americans might find it offensive (considering its george michael). Video is clever, if of course just a bit of fun. Iam sure George wanted the hype, but I bet the american divsion of his record company told him no.

Ever since Listen without pejudice when he decided that he didn't need to appear in his videos, I've thought his promotional abilities were questionable at best.

While I find the Patience album to be somewhat dissapointing, it does have some real gems. "Amazing" is exactly that, and "Freeek!" is classic GM.

The slow songs are pretty, but most of them go on a bit too long and there's a serious lack of melodies that the album in general suffers.

I don't disagree at all. My problem with the album, on the whole, is that it isn't cohesive. The songs don't really dovetail into one another nicely. The two I listed were the "gems" that sprung to mind, and certainly aren't the only ones.

Personally, I would love to see George do a double album, structured the way he did his "best of" collection: with one ballad disc and one dance disc. This was suppossed to be the concept with Listen Without Prejudice, but we never got Volume 2.

I like Patience, but I don't love it on the level I did Older. I was just dissapointed that it wasn't the masterpiece I thought George had in him.
