Which line? hmm

"It fell from midnight skies
It drummed on the galvanized
In the washroom women tracked the rain
Up to the make-up mirror
Liquid soap and grass
And Jungle Gardenia crash
On Pine-Sol and beer
It's stifling in here
I've got to get some air <<----- This line.
I'm going outside to get some air"

The reason it's missing is totally beyond me and after hearing the song for years and years it sounds like a big gaping hole on the new version. I think it ruins the structure of the lyrics, too, as there is a pattern of repetition at the end of every verse that is now ruined.

This is going to be controversial, but I think A Case of You is overrated, the lyrics are great, but the melody doesn't do it for me,I usually skip it.
I prefer Blue,River,My Old Man and The Last Time I Saw Richard.
I DON'T WANT TO BE NORMAL,because normal is part of the status quo, which I don't want to be a part of- Tori Amos

the last time i saw Richard was Detroit in 68

i wasn't even born then.

My advice, go for these three albums:
- Blue: intimate singer-songwriter / folk music with personal lyrics and a very spare sound: A Case of You is one of the classics of 20th century music, but personally i really dig her vocal phrasing on Little Green (on par with some of Miles Davis trumpet blasts, and, yes, Princes guitar solo's)
- Court and Spark: mixing pop and folk with light-jazz and orchestral arrangements, a very 'rich' record. Sophisticated, but not bland.
- The Hissing of summer lawns: mixing old sounds (Edith and the Kingpin is one of her best folky ballads) with new ones (incorpating african drums and synths into her sound): Maybe not an easy-listening record at first, but a record that slowly reveals its depths and joys.

I started with Blue. It's just like getting into Kate Bush by first listening to The Hounds Of Love...

I really wanted to take my advice. Honestly. Cuz I respect your opinion. But the curiosity killed the cat. I couldn't take the wait anymore and couldn't find her earliest stuff very readily. And I guess in the long run, it won't matter cuz I know I really like Hounds of Love already. Even if it's the only Kate Bush album I ever like, at least I'm in on what all the hype is about and can fairly join in on the discussion now. biggrin

same here. Hounds of Love is the only Kate Album I own yet. I guess
from what everyone is saying, it's like buying your first Prince cd
and going straight for "Sign O The Times".

still, that doesn't mean that, for instance "Parade" is any less
brilliant.

the one thing I never understood about Hounds of Love though, is if
it's meant as kind of two EP's on one album or if it's just meant as
one entire album.

I ask, because of the "Ninth Wave" portion. It still feels like part
of the album but it's also very much an entity on it's own acord.
