The last time I saw Lisa Lisa was a few years ago on VH1. I can't remember which show it was but I think it was "I Love The 80s". She was one of the people commenting on the decade. Hell, I can't remember.....anyway, it was one of VH1's shows where people comment on things.
Andy is a four letter word.

In 1987,I literally wore out my copy of the 'Spanish Fly' album.Had to buy another copy.I love the songs "Everything Will B-Fine","Head To Toe","Lost In Emotion" and "I Promise You",which sounds kinda Princely, doesn't it?

does anyone remember the follow-up album 'Straight To The Sky' (released in 1989)? The title track is an underrated gem,as is the song "Dance Forever".Too bad neither of those songs were released as singles.

How is Full Force's stuff? I only remember one song of theirs that had a James Brown sample. I think it was called "static"?

"Static" is a James Brown song produced by Full Force. His entire 'I'm Real' album back in 1988 was produced by Full Force. That might be the last good album James Brown released.

I really liked Full Force. Their sound was mostly go-go/hip-hop leaning funk, but they also did the freestyle thing for Lisa Lisa And Cult Jam ("I Wonder If I Take You Home") as well as house tracks for Samantha Fox ("I Wanna Have Some Fun") and straight up hip-hop for UTFO ("Roxanne Roxanne"). Anyway, their own albums were balanced with uptempo tracks like "Unfaithful" and "Ain't My Type Of Hype" and old school ballads like "All In My Mind" (Their only top 10 R&B hit). Their best albums are the ones I mentioned in an earlier post, but if you're looking to sample their stuff then maybe you should first try their 'Ahead of Their Time!: Full Force's Greatest Hits' compilation. It's the best one I've seen so far.

I got those albums. "smoove" has the classic "dont waste my time". The breakdown still cracks me up when they mention all those man hating songs like "superwoman" "what have you done for me lately" etc.....

"i'm real" album by James Brown has some cool joints too. "all you homeboys on the street, listen to what I say....." The 12" of "I'm real" is dope!

falloff Sorry man,Love ya but U have to pick up Lisa lisa's "Spanish Fly" and come correct nod
It's a freestyle and funk classic. Listenin 2 it on CD for the first time last night is wonderful.

I have the first 3 Full Force albums and that first album was terrible! it was off key lol! the beats were like confuse Then it got a lil' better with "Get Busy One Time" with trax like "Unfaithful" "Never Had A love Like This" and "Old Flames Never Die" were all great funk jams.

it just got better with "Guess WHos Coming To The Crib"

"3:00 Schools Out" / "Your Love Is Do Def" (one of my favorite funk slow jams ever) "Black Radio" "Katty Women" were funky as hell.

They did do a good job on the uptempo trax on X Girlfriend's album. I love "Why Cant U Come Home" as some1 mentioned. I still got that video (u'd love it Sex Of It).

Ah but have u heard that latoya album? Ok, only the full force tracks rock but its good shit though.

"I'll teach u ur abc's baby, I'll be there.....just like ur brother used to say, I want u back, ooooo baby.....". So cheesy but so funky.

The best Full Force album is their 1987 album 'Guess Who's Comin' To The Crib?'.There are some tight jams on that one! "Low Blow Brenda","Katty Women",and "Take Care Of Homework" are top-notch funk jams.Slower tracks like "All In My Mind" and the breezy, midtempo "Your Love Is So Def" are also superb. This is the album that should have turned them into superstars.

Lisa Lisa was also on a epsiode of "Law And Order" recently. She played a mother who had a kid who was obsessed with a "Micheal Jackson" type of performer and there were allegations of... ...well you can guess the rest. She looked older but she's still f-i-n-e!

U'd love "Straight To The Sky" by Lisa Lisa..the coming age and sound of New Jack was definitley in this album, plus "X Marks The Spot" from X Girlfriend, funky new Jack Swing all the way.. I should giv u a copy of those.

It was without a doubt the most disturbing L&O ever (possible even more disturbing than "L&A:SVU"). But still a very good one. Try to catch it.

Cool thread! I loved Cult Jam -- especially their first two albums! A jam that I don't believe has yet been mentioned in this thread is "You'll Never Change" (from their self-titled first album).

One of my first "Old Skool" songs I have posted on here and I believe I got alot of hits on that post. It is an INCREDIBLE song. I believe it was on the 45 B-Side to "I Wonder If I Take U Home" also.

That drum arrangement and SHARP. Demanding. And it just BEATS. The vocals are right on key and no one couldda sung it better than Lisa Lisa.
