You know, I was shocked, almost floored to see that they had a new album that came out last week...and yet we are still waiting for Stevie's! I think it's a concept album and has only seven tracks and they are all very simple titles (all begin with "The..." and then have one word after it). It seems to suggest an anti-Bush album...Too bad I could care less about the artist. Why can't Bowie make a full on anti-Bush CD. Prince? Elvis Costello (what the hell has he been doing lately?)? Madonna? Janet...bust out some anti-Bush shit!

Yeah, right. Madonna didn't even make a whole anti-Bush album, just one video ("American Life") and the whole country was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. A whole album of such material would not go over well.

Not to mention the way she backed out of showing the original video for "american life". Then again she was probably recieving death threats so I gues I would have done the same thing.

Why did people like Limp Bizkit?

"Faith" - for the novelty.

"Nookie" - for the beats.

Both because they were crammed down our throats.

Yes & No. But it was like this:

Faith - The audience used to go nuts in the clubs when the DJ play this Limp Bizkit cover of a George Michael's classic.

Nookie - THIS song made Limp Bizkit's career as a band in general

Rollin' - THIS was Limp Bizkit's final "masterpiece". And it became a much bigger hit when a pro wrestler like The Undertaker use this as his own theme song for a while.

Today, it's awful.

But a few years back, it was great riot music.

Bowie's songwriting has never been particularly political in theme, though I think there have been more than a few subtle lines penned on his last few albums that could certainly be read into. That's his whole deal, though - when he's at his best, he doesn't write surfacey lyrics. There's always something going on under the words themselves.

That said, 'I'm Afraid of Americans' is a fabulous piece of social satire.

That song is awesome. Didn't Trent produce it?

trent did a really popular remix of it, and he was in the video. nod

i think the original album version was produced either by bowie/eno or just bowie.

He's on tour for his new album The Delivery Man, which is great.

But no, it's not about Bush.

there are several single edit remixes of that song, including a couple that are reznor mixes. they're all good.

I kind of knew that Elvis was still active, but it seems as if most of his recent projects have been cover collections or classical collobrations. I bought "When I Was Cruel" when it came out and had really high hopes for it...but I either never got into it or was just really disapointed. Since then, I haven't bought anything from him, old or new...
