I think no one remembers it? Was it a big hit? I was not not even born when it was released I think? it shoulda been a big hit. Dan hartman is so weird. he is easily one of the most versitile producers and singers I know. I like his voice.

i don't think it was very awesome at all. but everyone has to think something is awesome, so you might as well think that song is awesome.

Ok u did then. Maybe I should of done my usual "do u remember.....fletch". I think people get reminded of chevy chase with that song. That is maybe y u don't care too much for it.

Chorus is original and rather childish and wacky. I heard it was bowies fav ever song.

Ok then, be serious sad

As for that song, it does have a 80's bowie feel actually. I bet hartman liked bowie (he was gay so proberly liked to shag him too)

oh fletch, u really should get outta town.

oh yeah "i can dream about you". Quite different to "get outta town". So u see what I mean by versitile.

That song "I can dream....." sounds 70's boston (well sorta). He also produced "the best" by tina turner and wrote billy joels "why should I worry" from disney film "oliver and company". He gets around. He died though unfortunately. So fuck knows where he woulda turned up this decade?

Few may know "relight my fire" he did (disco track). UK boyband take that covered it wuth lulu in the 90's. I like that track too.

Dan Hartman's career came to a tragic permanent end in 1994 as a victim of the HIV virus at the age of 43. Keep the Fire Burnin, a posthumous greatest hits collection, gathered his hit singles.
(from http://www.andwedanced.co...rtman.htm)

I remember hearing a rumour years ago that he was the first white recipient of an award normally given to black musicians, although I can find no online evidence to support this rumour, so it's probably crap.

Perhaps the rumour was acutally about his 1987 Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song (for Living in America, which he produced for James Brown) which he didn't win. For those of you who are interested (and those of you who aren't) Prince was also a nominee for that award, for Kiss. He didn't win it either (but you already knew that), Anita Baker did, for Sweet Love. Hmmm.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

Big thanx for the info. MAn is defintion of veristile and underated. I hope some people on here keep a casual look out for his stuff.

"we are the young" was another dance smash I think? Awesome song. Think pet shop boys in sound, but better wink
