Plus Jackson only changed his appearence because he thought he was ugly...
talk about pressure from the world...

Don't blame him...
Blame Society
Its not like he's the only one

Millions of people wan't to fit into this template that society places...
and they have plastic surgeyr
is it ever necessary?
No
But when magazine T.V. keep telling you should be thinner... your nose should be thinner
the creation of perfection is sought!

The Monster that is Michael Jackson was created by us
face it...
and now we can no longer look at him,
His ventures went horribly wrong...
But his sins reflect off the vanity of the world

I relate to him, cause i myself wanted to fit in that template...
wanted to shorten my nose have other types of surgery...
but luckily i had the strength to overcome that nonesense
some people are just not that strong

Its hard whenever you look in the mirror and all you see is "Yuck"
but you can't blame them...
open up a magazine...
and the see the brainwashing at first hand

this isn't a defense of Jackson
Just one for all people like him.
we all have insecurities

I couldn't possibly disagree more. Michael Jackson doesn't lose accountability for his own decisions just because he is Michael Jackson. Shouldn't he (and WE) have learned that by NOW?)

And society didn't tell this man he was ugly. PLEASE! He was loved and adored by women before he hit 3rd frickin' grade! His FAMILY told him that. His disgust for his FATHER told him that. But somehow, somewhere, despite all the adulation, all the fame, all the money, he decided HE could do that to himself.

This man had every reason to believe he was a handsome man. But he gave in to what he thought was a) the better look, and b) the look that was most unlike his father's.

Do social conventions and the stigma of race have anything to do with it? SURE! But ultimately, the individual has to make the choice as to whether to cut himself up in service to those conventions. And there are precious few excuses one can make for this man, with all of his fame, fortune, talent, good looks, and charisma, to do what he did. There were alternatives open to him and he shunned them. Those who claimed to love and support him were, and are, in the end, only enablers.

I hope this doesn't cost him his life someday.

It's easier to judge a man without walking a mile in his shoes...

obviously you are DELUSIONAL!

You're the one making excuses for a middle-aged man who's more famous and wealthy than 99.9999% of the inhabitants of this earth. You don't know from a can of blue paint.

And the best argument you have to the foregoing post is to call me delusional.

Priceless.

The choices Michael made are evident by his pictures, his words and his history. What I did was make an assessment based on the facts presented and counter your arguments.

I didn't make excuses borne from hero worship. That is apparently your territory.

Oh please
You claim im making excuses for a middle aged man
but he's made these decisions wayyyyy before his current age now...

You use his fame and wealth as an excuse to exude some kind of happiness...
and you think im wrong by calling you delusional,

Every man is responsible for their own path, i agree with you there,
and i never said it wasn't his own fault
i just stressed a point, that the media helped build him as a monster
is that so farfetched?

If he did in anyway bleach his skin? what would make him do that?
Black is not beautiful?
or is not beautiful because "White" is some divine shade,
worshipped everywhere?
Please...
Self hatred has alot to do what he's done to himself
you are wrong, when you think your not responsible as well

Every C.D. you bought
,everytime you comment on how he was so good looking
you are just feeding the beast

MJ made his decision, to satisfy everyone else BUT himself...
sure it had to do with his father and brother ridiculing him,
sure it had to do with several fans saying that he was cuter when he was younger
Sure it has to do with him hating himself to an extent to go through constant mutilation

Maybe its worst... then what we are even talking about...

What you call facts of his "History"
are mere facts, not truth...

Only true information comes from the man himself

that demented place inside his head, where serpents and chimps roam free
That place where he is scared of dying
like all of us,

But instead of trying to debate with me, and saying everything i say is a crock shit, which it probably is...

Go find some compassion...
Not for MJ, cause you, nor i truly what that man is like
Take a look around at this world thats been created for you,
The superficial, Mundane 9-5 life...
Have you ever made fun of an ugly person...
hell i have...
don't doubt theirs isn't a person in this planet that hasn't

But i watch what i say...
i might create another Michael Jackson...

Or worst Columbine...
People are affected by society...

and yes even a man who has all the riches of the world and all the woman or MEN
isn't happy

Hell are you happy?

See i make excuses for no one, i just point out that the grass is always greener on the otherside...

And I u. (By the way, the "crock of shit" was served up by C-bust, not you. But that's Cloudbuster's specialty . . . LOLOLOL . . .just kidding, Cloudbuster, I got love for you 2.)

Consider this a family argument.

I cite his fame in stark contradiction to your assertion that society overwhelmed him with its negative reinforcements of his image. At the time he lightened his skin and destroyed his face, he was one of the most beloved celebrities of his day. So that dog don't hunt. Fame and wealth don't make people happy. But this man was worshipped and privileged before he hit puberty (albeit a very hard early childhood). Don't TRY to tell me society was the root cause of his decision to destroy himself. Society didn't tell MJ he was ugly.

I hate what he's done to himself for precisely the opposite reasons you impute to me. He was a handsome man just the way he was. He tried to be something he is not. I don't discount the sadness in his life, we all have our crosses to bear. But like that foolishness with those damn boys, there comes a point when one must say, "look man, this is on you."

And he is RISKING HIS LIFE . . . HIS LIFE . . . with the things he's done to himself. Would someone who cared about his welfare just say, "hey, MJ, go ahead and bleach yourself, because your family has dissed you and society sees you as ugly"?

Off-topic: How do you KNOW I have a mundane 9-5 life, anyway? Do you not engage in the very thing you accuse me of? But I digress.

I am a black man in America. Don't think I don't sympathize with MJ on many levels. Don't think I don't feel sorry for him on some level. Don't think I don't appreciate the scrutiny under which he lives his life. If I didn't love him or his music to some degree, I wouldn't even care to have this conversation. As a wise man once told me, "a true friend sometimes stabs you in the heart," meaning, he will speak the truth if he feels his friend needs to hear it.

We all have our sadnesses to bear in life. But we all should take accountability for those things that are under our control. MJ is no exception.

I'd have to easily say Prince. If you took "Thriller" away from MJ...does he get the high powered producers for his next project "Bad"? MJ woulda been solid after "Off The Wall" but I don't think he woulda been anywhere near as huge as he was had 'Thriller' never dropped and blew up.

Prince was already making a strong go of it with the success of "DM", "Controversy" and "1999"..."Purple Rain" gave him access to MORE people but his musical talents were already starting to get some recognition and heat.

Plus, after 'Thriller'...MJ started to slowly lose sight of reality.

Without PR or Thriller, Lionel Richie would be the king of pop culture!!!

When VI try too damn hard to be Hammer, a lot of black people already started to hate him. But a lot of white girls started to love him.

And once the truth got out that VI lied about his background (born in Miami instead of Dallas, living in the projects, going to the same high school as 2 Live Crew, etc.) then everyone hated him since.

actually society did tell michael he was ugly, and they always have. when he first started obviously they didnt. they said he was cute and they loved him. but his family (well most of them) called him ugly when they said he had a big nose. then when he became a teenager, thats when society started calling him ugly. they wanted him to be the cute little boy he no longer was. michael has told many stories of how girls came in to see him, expecting the little cute michael, and when they saw him they groaned saying stuff like, 'thats michael?! ewwww'. he had awful acne that was also made fun of by his family and the media. they made fun of his looks all the way up to off the wall, thats when the girls started loving him and flaunting all over him, but it was too late by then, the damage had already been done.
