1-Don Juan's Reckless Daughter/Joni Mitchell
This is by far my favorite piece of art...It moves me more than any painting, book, film, or play ever could.
2-Look a Py Py/The Meters
I think he'd dig the groove.
3-On the Corner/Miles Davis
A GREAT mind fuck.
4-Waka Jawaka/Frank Zappa
I think that Prince and Zappa are more alike than most people think. Frank was the ultimate composer, and fused Jazz, Classical, Electronic music, and rock together to create madness.
5-Story of a Ghost-Phish
Before you snicker, hear me out. This is a GREAT album. Phish has the stigma of smelly hippies and endless jams, but this album is FULL of fantastic songs and AMAZING musicianship.
6-Joko/Youssou N'Dour
The greatest singer in the world.
7-Original Sufferhead/Fela Kuti and the Africa 70
Everyone MUST hear Fela Kuti. The man pretty much ended years of conflict in Nigeria with his political anthems, and his grooves created a new style of music called afro-beat.
8-Astrikan Cafe-Anwar Brahem
This album is 70 minutes of beauty. Anwar Brahem is a Turkish musician who plays the Oud. This is otherworldly Jazz.
9-The Heavyweight Champion-The complete Atlantic John Coltrane Collection
10-Street Legal-Bob Dylan
Right before Dylan became a born again Christian, he wrote this album that's full of questions about god, life, and love. VERY powerful stuff.

i think 'henry's dream' is a lot more fun, but i think 'the boatman's call' is definitely nick's shining moment as a songwriter. if i were to pick out a nick cave album for prince to take in, it would have to be that one. though i'd love to play him 'stagger lee'.
