INCREDIBLE VOCALS....ANTONY AND THE JOHNSONS

any other orgers picked up this great album and stunning vocals of antony and his band the johnsons. "I am a Bird Now " has some wonderful songs but antony has the most incredible voice i have heard in years. the lyrics are interesting to say the least (transgender) but the songs are so beautiful, you cannot help loving it. wink

I listened to samples at Barnes and Noble after having read about him in a British music mag. I didn't buy it, then went back a few days later and the one copy they had was gone.
It's very different. I can't decide if it would grow on me or if later I would think what the hell did I buy this for?
The fact that Boy George guests on it caught my attention.
Should I get it do you think?

Been meaning to get this for awhile. Sounds wonderful. He keeps getting compared to Nina Simone so that has to be a good thing.

I saw him live once. Thought it was a little pretentious, but also kind of amazing. His voice does seem like it might be hard to get through on a full CD, but I think I'll check it out.

Thanks! I did pick it up. It's unlike anything I've ever heard before.
Very ethereal and almost mysterious. i do think it will grow on me.
The booklet that comes with it is almost spooky. Makes me curious to learn more about him/her.

it's an extraordinary album. probably the best album this year so far.
I woke up sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
and the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert

I've heard "Hope There's Someone To Take Care Of Me" (is that the right title? confuse ). It grew on me after the third spin. I think it was just getting used to the "operatic" style. It's refreshingly different. I'd like to hear more wink
