NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS: B-SIDES & RARITIES BOX I just got this. Rather late, I know, since it's been out for
about a month now I guess. But it's incredible. Sure, there's a lot of talk about murder and bloodshed, fear, and horribly bleak love. But above all, there's the beauty of the compositions. Especially disc 3. Damn. That's a fine album in it's own right. Forget about it being b-sides and rarities. It works better than most artist's real albums. Perhaps I'm too partial since my fav albums of his are the ones represented most on this disc "Boatman's Call" "No More Shall". Especially the outtakes from "The Boatman's Call" are sublime. It is hard to conceive how such an amazingly cohesive album can have spawned so many more absolute gems of songs that would all have fit on the original album quite happily. So who's gotten their tangled bloody mittens on this set yet? Don't you just love it? oh, i'm sorry : [Edited 5/8/05 5:12am] and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

yeah. at first I was like "wtf are all these O'Malley's Bar parts on here?" but they sound so sick and twisted that it becomes a joy to listen to them. "Oh my god, oh my god, they shot him in the motherfuckin head" yet somehow, the piano tickling makes up for all the homicide in the song. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
