Wow. Im surprised at how close all of these classic records were released. Dont Be Cruel and Heartbreak on THE SAME DAY!

All of them are equally good IMO. The only one that I own right now is teh New Edition one. I'll have to go back and revisit all of these. biggrin

yeah, Guy had some good "new jack" stuff..
but aren't they credited with "inventing" new jack swing???

I liked I wanna get wit u from them more than anything else- that was the jam, as was It's just a fantasy (wasn't that in a Spike Lee movie??)

but I liked Wrecks-in-Effex more - didn't they have a song called New Jack Swing that featured Guy?? & didn't Guy produce Wrecks???

I also liked 1 song by the group "Today" - they had a song which I think was called Why you gettin' funky on me..
I liked that 1, I've been looking for that on cd, but haven't found it yet.

yeah, "new jack" was a distinct enough sound & there were quite a few good, danceable jams that came out of it..
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

I love the video to "i wanna get with you". Great dancing. "new jack swing" is better on 12" with the sexist line teddy says. The video is dope too.

Today "why u wanna get funky on me" is superb. I got the album and video. The song can also be found on the "house party" soundtrack.

They were good dancers. Big bub tried a solo career but failed.

This guy is behind "Rumpshaker". It was the first hit song that he was involved with. He didnt recieve any album credit for his contribution either. He and Chad worked closely under the Teddy Riley New Jack regime. Boy oh boy, Virginia is hot!

Pharrel is credited on my version. So are about 10 other people.

I heard teddy didn't give them boys credit, but ? Gene Griffen I can see doing this but teddy? I hate them nerd boys. Enough is enough.

My favorite songs are lesser known such as Kool Skool "My girl" and also Black Flames a remake of Slave's Watching you. Oh love some Today and also of course Guy.

I got the martika version. Nice pop song. Love the drums.

Other Prince newjackish tracks

My name is Prince
Push
love machine (the time)
New power generation (his own "my perogatvie")

Particually "my name is Prince", which included the type of macho chants that vh1 "critics" love to take the piss out of. "do that, do that somebody". I love that shit.

I have always listened to Ralph Tresvant's debut....such a great album

Sensitivity
Stone Cold Gentleman
Do what I gotta to

Great songs

But also, BBD's Remix album was really good as well...esp. the remix of "Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike, Ralph and Johnny (Word to the Mutha)" with all the NE references through out
