Barry Gibb is producing an album for Barbra Streisand----what do you think of musical reunions?

Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees is in the studio producing a new album for Barbra Streisand. As you know,he's the guy who produced her 1980 album 'Guilty',which is one of her most successful albums. So,what do you think of this musical reunion? Will the magic still be there? And don't you kinda miss the days when we had truly inspired musical pairings like this? I'm talking about the days when we had...

Quincy Jones producing albums for Michael Jackson

Giorgio Moroder producing albums for Donna Summer

Barry Manilow producing an album for Dionne Warwick

Niles Rodgers and Bernard Edwards (Chic) producing an album for Diana Ross

Prince producing albums for The Time

What producer/artist combo would you like to see again? Can these "musical reunions" really work, after all this time? Should Michael call Quincy? lol

I would imagine it'll be decent stuff. I don't think Babs would bother otherwise.

It's just good to know he's writing again. Now all he needs to do is hook up with Robin. They write better together.

It's good to know he's writing and producing again. It would be cool if he could produce another album for Dionne Warwick. He did a spectacular job on her 1982 'Heartbreaker' album.

it might be a good reunion for their fans, but since neither one of them has had a hit record in years, it'll probably debut high on the charts and then quickly slide down with no video and airplay to support the cause.
as for reunion pairings, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't..you can't always catch lightning in a bottle twice. for example, even if mj and qj worked together again, the whole album would be held in comparison to off the wall and thriller..sometimes it's better to just leave the past in the past and cherish the memories/good sales. why tarnish that in today's fickle market?

The Bee Gees have just had a recent number one single. Or are you talking strictly in US terms?

It's called Man In The Middle and was released in Turkey only. hmm It's from their last studio album (This Is Where I Came In) from 2001. It was included on the recent Number Ones album as a tribute to Maurice as he sang lead vocals on it. It wasn't issued as a single at the time of its initial release.

I'm looking forward to it. Guilty was one of my favorite albums during that time.

Who knows? Barry and Barbra could hit gold again. When "Guilty" came out back then, that song was played EVERYHERE up and down the dial on the radio. R&B, soft rock, and pop radio embraced that song. I'm sure Barry Gibb was making much $$ from 1977 to 1980. I've always wanted to hear Stevie Wonder and George Benson do a CD together. Their vocal styles would go well together. Someone call Quincy..he needs to get on that! (lol)

I'm definitely curious to hear what this will sound like. And sure enough, Babs must be way beyond "contractual obligation" so she wouldn't be doing it if she wasn't genuinely enthusiastic; I'm sure the same is true for Barry.

nod People can say what they want but Guilty was some good stuff. Of course, the market now is a different climate. She may have some success with the adult contempary market and that's about it and nothing significant.
