Z Cult Favorite - Eddie Hazel- Frantic Moment Funkadelic's lead guitarist Eddie Hazel came out with his first solo in 77 titled "Games, Dames and Guitar Thangs". It's a very cool album. My favorite cut on the album and one of my favorite cuts to come out of the whole P-Funk thang was Eddie's "Frantic Moment". Written by George, Bootsy and Bernie Worrell, this song is another one of those 'spooky' songs to come out of that camp. It was intended for The Brides Of Funkenstein first album, "Funk Or Walk" but ended up on Eddie's instead. "Frantic Moment" opens with some backwards guitar and great bass line by Bootsy. And as usual, great but kinda weird vocals by The Brides. Anyway, I love this song. Who else out there digs "Frantic Moment"? SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. Especially when he talks about Hendrix."

I guess no one saw the thread I started last night about "Games, Dames, And Guitar Thangs". (lol)..but it's cool, were talking about good, ol' Smedley. This whole LP is great. There's not one bad cut on the LP, and Eddie plays straight from the heart (no pun intended) on every cut. The notes he pulling from his Strat (on "Frantic") isn't necessary blues, jazz, or funk, it's all over the place... but in a good way. When I listen to this and "REST IN P" back to back, it takes me to another place. "Frantic Moment" could be played on late nite jazz radio. Think I'm going to go and put this on NOW!

This song would've been out of place on the Brides album.... But it is a jam!!!! My favorite is "What About It"????? That's the jam!!!! "So Goes The Story" is another jam..... [Edited 5/5/05 15:17pm]

You just missed out but not to worry. Rhino Handmade pressed 5000 CD's of the Album but they are now Sold Out. I believe you can still get a copy through "The Funk Store"
http://www.thefunkstore.c.../home.html Though it will be expensive now. If you dont know about "The Funk Store" you should!!!

[Edited 5/5/05 15:17pm] "What About It?" is the jam and yeah, "Frantic" wouldn't have fit on The Brides album. SynthiaRose said "I'm in love with blackguitaristz. I don't know if I have an overall favorite--I love both of these.... " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

You're right on point with that Hot Legs! I'm really hoping his widow (Brenda) will open up the vaults and let the REAL goods loose (since George can't).
