He will never tour.

I'm pretty confident he will never tour again.

A Celine dion 'Vegas-style' run might be possible if he's desperate for cash, but even then I don't think he'd be reliable enough to appear at all the dates.

He just doesn't have it in him, physically or creatively.

There is no fire burning there anymore, no spark, no creative impulse. He just stares out of those sunken eyes sad, lonely and empty.

The guy is more or less finished. There may be a few more deriative sounding CD's but I think that will be it.

It's over.

eek Geez, not very positive. Well that's what they said about Mariah Carey. Said she's over. Well shes got a hit cd and single. I thought we were talkin about michael touring. It's kinda sad how no one can stay on topic and starts commenting on either his appearance or personal life.

You bring up a good point.Michael just doesn't seem inspired anymore! I remember a few years ago, when 'Invincible' came out,he was on MTV's TRL with Carson Daly. This was his big opportunity to show some enthusiasm and promote his new CD,but he looked like he would rather be at home sleeping. There doesn't seem to be any more fire,no passion and no real LOVE for the art of making music anymore. Many years ago,he reached the point where music became secondary for him. These days,he's more or less considered a "celebrity" more than a musical artist.

I could see him doing a lucrative Celine Dion-type deal, where he can play Vegas continuously, night after night.I think he spends alot of time out there anyway. But a grueling,months-long world tour? Nope,it ain't gonna happen.

But how is not caring about promotion (especially live TV promotion in MJs case) the same as having no passion for the music?

I'm just saying that he doesn't seem inspired anymore. There are too many "distractions" that always seem to get in the way. It's been this way for at least ten years now.

Well maybe recent events will create the inspiration you think he's lacking. But I actually think his music is still pretty inventive. The rhythm tracks to the likes of Heartbreaker, Privacy, Threatened etc still show signs of a playful approach. I wouldn't write him off just yet.

So you noticed it as well?

I was comparing MJ to Madonna the other day and I think it's clear that she still has way more passion, strength, artistry and creative vision. She still has something to say, something important to express through her music and live performances.

If MJ had ever made anything like 'American life' which was considered by many to be a 'flop', people would be going crazy.

When you look at Artists with longevity in terms of both recorded and live music, such as Prince and Madonna, you see change, redevelopment, evolution, maturity, daring and most of all a burning sense of creativity.

All of that is completely absent in Michael Jackson. As you wrote he appears distracted, absent-minded even.

I always thought he looked tired around that time. His whole face looked different and dare I say partially paralyzed so maybe that's why he looked ike he'd rather be sleeping.

For someone who loves so much different music and is as creative as Michael, I'm suprised we haven't gotten something really new and daring from him. Maybe he isn't inspired or doesn't have the creative energy anymore. After this trial who knows what will be left. I don't pick up a sense of urgency to create like I feel from Prince. Has he fulfilled his obligation with Sony? Can he put out another CD without the hassle or does he have yet one more to go?

His answers about wanting to make music and film start to sound generic and redundant and I wonder if he's saying what he thinks we want to hear.

This would be a BAD choice but he seems to be the King of Bad Choices. He needs to get his life together before he starts doing something as grueling as touring. For God sakes he's got 3 kids now, why don't he try to be a better father to his kids before he starts thinking about music? If he does get acquitted, he needs to get some help, that's all I want for him. He will still make money as long as people continue to play and cover his songs but he needs to look out for his family and himself first. Once he does that, then he can come out to the public inspired and show the world that he can kick ass again like he used to.
