Best 1960s R&B Slow Jamz for Love-Making

Since OnionJuice's thread idea has been dealt with through the 70s and 80s, let's move back to the 60s...

Mercy, Mercy, Mercy - Cannonball Adderley
Oh No Not My Baby - Maxine Brown
If You Need Me - Solomon Burke
Then You Can Tell Me Good Bye - The Casinos
You Don't Know Me - Ray Charles
La La Means I love You - The Delfonics
Stay In My Corner - The Dells
Baby I Need Your Loving - Four Tops

Aretha Franklin:
I Never Loved A Man
Baby I Love You
Natural Woman
Do Right Woman

Going in Circles - Friends of Distinction

Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell:
Ain't No Mountain High Enough
Ain't Nothin Like The Real Thing

Hey There Lonely Girl - Eddie Holman

Hot Buttered Soul (The complete album) - Isaac Hayes

The Impressions:
I'm So Proud
Gypsy Woman

Etta James:
At Last
Trust In Me

Hypnotized - Linda Jones

Soul Serenade - King Curtis

Barbara Lewis:
Baby I'm Yours
Hello Stranger

Little Anthony & The Imperials:
Going Out Of My Head
Hurt So Bad
I'm On The Outside

Yes I'm Ready - Barbara Mason
The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game - The Marvelettes
For Your Precious Love - Garnet Mimms

The Miracles:
You've Really Got A Hold On Me
Ooh Baby Baby
The Tracks Of My Tears

Tell It Like It Is - Aaron Neville
Baby I'm For Real - The Originals
Our Day Will Come - Ruby & the Romantics
The Look of Love - Dusty Springfield

Otis Redding:
I've Been Loving You Too Long
Try A Little Tenderness
Dock Of The Bay

Percy Sledge:
When A Man Loves A Woman
Take Time To Know Her

Billy Stewart:
I Do Love You
Sitting In The Park

The Temptations:
You're My Everything
All I Need
I Wish It Would Rain
Since I Lost My Baby

Stevie Wonder:
Hey Love
I Don't Know Why

Dionne Warwick:
Don't Make Me Over
Anyone Who Had A Heart
Walk On By
Alfie
House Is Not A Home
Valley of the Dolls

Love Is A Hurtin' Thing - Lou Rawls
What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted - Jimmy Ruffin
Hold What You've Got - Joe Tex
The One Who Really Loves You - Mary Wells

Now these may not all be "Slow" in the classic sense, but when used properly, they'll get the job done. wink

Any others you can think of?

biggrin Great tracks, as usual, tA! The only one I would add is one o' my favorites:

Your Precious Love - Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell

The Audience, I'm still discovering a lot of the 1960s stuff. I also get a lot of the early 1970s stuff confused with the 1960s. I listed "La La Means I Love You" on the 1970s thread. lol

You named just about all of them I can think of. Anyway, I would add "Warm And Tender Love" by Percy Sledge. Anything by The Dells is absolutely perfect for love making.
Andy is a four letter word.

TheRealFiness

Love can make you happy-Mercy
The look of love-sergio mendes
if this world were mine-Marvin and tammi
The bells-the Originals
By the time i get to phoenix-Isaac hayes
i stand accused-Isaac hayes
these arms of mine-Otis redding

Good additions.
The Squad comes through again. nod

While putting the original list together i'd forgotten what strong songs Dionne Warwick had out during that decade.

Thought of a couple more myself...

James Brown:
Try Me
Lost Someone
Prisoner Of Love

Brenda Holloway:
Every Little Bit Hurts
You've Made Me So Very Happy

Johnnie Taylor:
I Had A Dream
I've Got To Love Somebody's Baby

Hey Finess, leave her in one of those dusty bins in a wrecka-stow on the South Side.
She's been quite uppity around here lately.

Well the South side of Chicago
Is the baddest part of town
And if you go down there
You better just beware
Of a man named tA Brown
pimp2

Cut to the chase...

Well the two folks took to fighting
And when they pulled them off the floor
TOFKA looked like a jigsaw puzzle
With a couple of pieces gone

(apologies to Jim Croce)

Respect me!
That's what i'm talkin' about. nod

Since I'm a seventies baby, I can only give my never ending respect to my elders, you put in so much work so that my fat ass can have some freedom, I'm eternally grateful. I always learn something good here, keep on teaching.
