Kate Bush's "The Dreaming"

Ummm...for the most part kate's fans seem to say that she jumped the shark with "red shoes"..but, i have just finished listening to The Dreaming and I must say with th exception of "NIght of the Swallow", "All of Love" and "Get Out Of My House" this album is odd.

The dated arrangments....The sound effects.....Heck, even the ending of "Get Out Of My House"...oye!! what the :censored" was that, "eoyore" scream?

so, am i crazy or is this album crazy?

Sat In Your Lap is one of the weirdest pop songs I've ever heard. It is truely out there and Alternative. But for some strange I kinda like it. hmmm

if you want to scream, try watching the video for Sat In Your Lap. nod

anyways, this was probably my most difficult Kate album, but after a couple of midnight listens it became one of my faves, considering i love them all. Houdini is another gem off that album. i discovered Kate after when she released Hounds of Love then went to the Sensual world and worked my ways backwards. each of her earlier albums are difficult during the first listenings. but once they get under your skin, you wonder what was so hard about them.

i'm not a big fan of The Red Shoes....even after repeated listens. Just seemed that Kate lost her touch with the exception of "And so is love" and "Song of Solomon".

Stick with it, man. There ain't a bad song on there. It just takes a while to sink in.
The first few times I heard the album I was like whofarted. Now it's my second fave of hers. It did take me a long time to appreciate, tho'.
It eventually all fell into place one sunday morning on a drug come down about five years ago. smile

The Dreaming is a little difficult to swallow at first, but after a while you start to notice all the layers. It's actually quite brilliant.

As for The Red Shoes, its just weak. It has nothing to do with how accessible it is. I don't know if I'd go so far as to say she "jumped the shark" with it (especially since she hasn't released anything since), but it is just a bit of a mishmash. Many of the songs are quite good, but it doesn't flow all that well as an album.

Love love LOVE this album! worship

It's definitely Kate's most 'out-there' album and - at the time - a lot of critics thought she actually had gone crazy! It's a real trip. This probably is my favourite Kate album (although my favourite song will always be 'The Sensual World'. So, er, sensual smile )
